Hi ,
May i know how to change the asp.net worker process identity to Local system using any script or bat file in "IIS 5.1"....Please help me out regarding the same.......
Securirty is not a problem as im using the web application for intranet application....

Because as i deploy my simple web application in which i have only one web form and that cs file doesn"t have any code and created an msi (windows installer) and i installed that msi in other system and in that system if access my web application i got an error like...

Why would an ASP.NET app write to the registry ? Why not use a config file to store your data ?

No Christian im not at all trying to write registry it"s a simple webform with no code in cs file still im getting the error as i mentioned above ...
And suppose if i want to write the registry then what should i do as it is a requirement in our project..Please let me know....
And in iis 6.0 i have tried cahnging the process identity of the Application pool to local system thru adutils.vbs which is a Admin script provided by IIS which present in Admin scripts in inetpub folder but im unable to do in IIS 5.1 because Application pools are not present here and so im struggling how can i change the process identity to local system in IIS 5.1 thru script or bat file Please let me know as im struggling from 4 to 5 days...

Hi all,
In my application, i have one requirement that i want to show popup type reminder on particular time which is set by user. This is call center type application in which executive set the reminder to call on particular time and all his reminder message and time are inserted into the database and to show popup, it will fetch the reminder data from the database.
I have one clue to implement it, but performence wise its not good to implement it. So Is there any way to implement it???????????

You can set a timeout in javascript, so you can inject the code to do that, with the appropriate timeout value based on the users timezone ( which you can also find with js, but that's a little tricky, if you know their timezone, that would make it a lot easier ). So, the page you send, can be set with a timer to show that message, without having to refresh or use ajax.

Yes, You are correct..and now see this...
I make one function in javascript, just for testing

In the above code startTime function call recursively bcs i have to check the datetime from the database which is there in the page. so it will run after every 1 minuite and it will run on every client computer.
so can u think performence wise it is suitable??
And yes one more thing Here JQuery can help me? I want yr suggesion.

Hi,
When i try to upload an excel file that has a date column, there is a issue in the system language. That is, when i tried my application in my system which has regional settings (System Language:English-US;Programs that run non-unicode format: English-US)and it was working perfectly. The datas got uploaded.
But when i tried in another machine that has the system settings (System Language:English-UK;Programs that run non-unicode format: English-UK), this threw me an error "Invalid date format in excel".
Help me out.

You mean reusing the DataGridView?
If so yes you can, just call the Clear method before assigning the datasource second time
OR set the datasoruce to null.
Be careful, there is no Undo Button(Ctrl+Z) in life.

thanx but my question is :
1. i have 2 dropdown list ctrls on my page showing the ID's of two different tables.
And only one dropdown list can b used at a time.
2. i wud like to know whether i cud use the datagridview to c the results according to the dropdown list selected(which shows the data of the table connectd to )

But, given how trivial your question is, and how easy it would be to test if this will work ( or just to put two styled grids on a form and only show the selected one ), perhaps first impressions are correct.

ASALAMOALEKUM,
I am working with ASP.NET and c#
i have a chatting website.
i have two pages:
page1: names of all the chat rooms available
page2: a chatroom (for chatting)
i have use database to store chat and then by using ajax timer i have updated the displaying textbox with chat from database... for each chat room, it stores chat in the database w.r.t to its roomid.
i have made a class "chat" which contains static member ROOM_ID.
when user click on any room_name (from page1), the respective roomid is stored in the static member ROOM_ID and direct to page2 where all the working is done on the basis of the ROOM_ID.
as per scenerio i needed to open more than one chat room at a time so i have used OnClientClick event to target to new browser window when clicks on the room name from page1.
now i am facing two probelms...
1st:
i have run my application on browser say "A", for the first time when i click on any roomname, it opens the application in new browser say "B" but not with the page2(chat area for that room) but a LOGIN page of my website and when i log on to it it directs to the HOME page instead of directing to the page2.. and then when i again click on the roomname of page1 on "A" or "B" now it opens the new browser window say "C" with requested page2. (but for this i have to login to that page which was for the first time opened in new browser window "B" otherwise browser "C" also initiate with LOGIN page)..
how to avoid this LOGIN page ??
2nd:
Its a major problem, i dont know whether to have some different settings while working with different browsers incase of handling database too.
well...issue is :
i have opened a chatroom1 in browser"A" .. when i am working with only one chatroom its fine
now when i open a chatroom2 in new browser "B",, with the loading of this chatroom2 the chatroom at browser "A" tends to adopt the values of chatroom2.. that is both the browsers show the chat msgs of chatroom2...
how to handle thisss... ??
i know there must be any soln to thisss.. else having individual form for each chatroom is totally wastage and not a good practice because rooms are created and deleted by the user !

Sounds like your design is broken. For a start, a static variable is obviously going to be the same for all your pages, and in fact, I'd have expected it to be the same for all users, have you tested with two lots of users running at once in different rooms ? It sounds to me like your code has a lot of issues stemming from poor design.

Hi ,
I have drag the Menu control from the navigation tool and change its color to my css match.Now the Main menu tabs changes its color and font But sub menu dosen't support evenafter used <levelsubmenustyles>

Hi.
I've to develope a web messageBox. It should be server side with 2 states:
- OK button
- Yes/No button
If an instance of this class creates and the Show() method be called, I should show a message box and wait for user action and I get back the button that clicked to the callers method.
Could you please give me some guides how can I develope this class and how would you have started this?
