How to Add/Edit Microsoft Office files in SQL Server database through windows and web application in dot net C#?

The reason I ask is that I have found a site in PHP(LAMP) which meets my customer's needs almost perfectly, but I may need to add one more site in the same FTP which has done it in ASP.net 2.0 as I am a .NET programmer. However, I Would like to convert my project from windowx platform to Linux with the help of mono project.can i sucess it?have any problem at hosting time?Plz reply as soon as possible.very urgent

Hi,
I working with crystal report in asp.net 2.0 with vb.net.
When user click on print i want to capture some information.
so how can i capture print buttons click event of crystal report.
If possible add code for that.

iam having neary 300000 records in the data table retriving this data and assign to the grid to show is becoming very slow how to slow this problem

Are you showing this much of records in Grid?
One thing you can do,get the data from from DB in some bunch.Don't retrieve all at asingle time.

This is useless. Never going to load that much amount of data to show in gridview. Use proper filter to decrease the count and show them.

Hi ,
I am using document.activeElement.id in my javascript code to find currently clicked button.
It works fine in IE, Morzila but not in Safari and Crom.
It give error Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'id' of undefined

You can't download a file using ASP.NET. It's not possible. you can response.write a file and/or link to a file if you want a user to download it, both of which are pretty straightforward. Is that what you meant ?

I developed a simple task which maintains a usage log for our applicatiion.
which records 'which page he hit', 'userid', 'date', 'count'. etc.
now what I need to do is, I have to show how much time user spend on our application.
Please suggest me how to develop.

Calculate using Session_Start and Session_End Events . You should also keep in mind if user close the browser Explicitly.

Well, you can use AJAX in that case, but even that won't work 100%, so you need to provide a fallback, such as a timestamp to tell you a session just plain expired.

I have done this experiment few month back to delete users logs if he closes the browser, Hope this will helps you.

when i login from one machine and after that i login from another system then i want to display masg on first machine that user login on another machine

For this you need to have details of all logined users in common Database and remove them after logout.You need to check first the databse before a user login,if entry is already there in DB the show the message else make a entry in and let him/her login.

Hi
I have an asp.net textbox with property multiline. I am also doing some javascript validations for the ttextbox for number of charecters. But when i try giving html tags inside the textbox and try to click button save, am getting the below error
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500
Can somebody help me how to avoid this error.

try unescape the text (in javascript) before sending it to server and viceversa.
