Connection should be same as you used for other, you have only to mention the SQL Server ip address on the connection string with other details.
There is no question of changes Connection string in case of storing SQL server and Web server in different system, because for a Big production environment its common to run Web server and Sql Server in differnt system.

Hi all,
I have a donation page in my web application and the page contains a dropdown list with 3 diff options when i select the third option "One time donation " a textbox should appear to enter the desired donation and shuld redirect to the paypal site.can anybody help me out in this.i am very new to the paypal use.

You've got a job as a teacher, but you don't know the stuff you're teaching ?
All server controls do a post of the page form, and then ASP.NET works out the details from viewstate.

I am looking for information on the steps required to request and collect user input from a pdf form using ASP.Net. I have plenty of experience with Access/VBA, but am a newbie with respect to web applications. I have a fully functional pdf with a submit button, but don't really know the gestalt of setting up the application to be prepared to access the form data. The following from the Acrobat Help wasn't much help, really:
In the Enter A URL For This Link box, [do the] following:
To collect form data on a server, type the location. For example: http://www.[domain]/[folder]/[subfolder]/
I want to display the pdf and when the user has completed the form and submitted it, I want to collect the data into variables for later use. Please point me in the right direction.

I don't see how a PDF can be 'fully functional'. If you get sent a PDF by a user, you'll need a PDF library to try to read the contents. Overall, a PDF seems just it's just plain the wrong thing to use in this case.

Thanks, anyway, for the non-answer, but what I mean by "fully functional" is that the pdf in question has form fields and checkboxes that are properly named and whose properties are properly set up to return the values I want to use once submitted. It's not my choice as to whether or not to use a PDF. Clients can be particular. The pdf will reside on the host web server, but my client wants to have a submit button incorporated on it so that the user doesn't have to print it out and fax it to him after filling it in. He wants the data delivered to him in an e-mail. I agree that it would be infinitely simpler to create a user form with equivalent checkboxes and form fields on an aspx or php page, but alas, as I said - it's not my choice.
Plus - I'm always game for learning something new. I love a challenge. Need a little help, that's all.

So i Need to setup 6 websites that are pretty much the same, and is pulling information from the same database, just different domain, names etc...
I set it up where it reads the host.url and maps it against a xml that pulls up what text to serve for the particular domain your on.
I am doing this so there's only 1 set of files to update when there are changes.. Anyone see an issue if there's high traffic, setting it up this way? Any other suggestions in going about this?

The obvious issue is that your servers traffic is the traffic of all 6 sites. So long as it can handle the traffic, I don't see any issues.

I'm sitting at work trying to figure out the best way to build a dynamic web registration form where the user can basically build the registration form using a Windows application by choosing the field or whatever and they get added to the db and the web page looks at the db and build the registration page.
I really have no other idea as how to do this but that. My only problem is the user has to be able to customize the field name and type from within this client app.
I'm trying to get other ideas so I will not create something ugly. Is there a cleaner, more efficient way to do this?

I have a table which I will grab from my sql server and place into a gridview(limited view/sample of data specific data to give users enough info to select a row). Now each row is selectable and once selected I would like to get the rest of the data which corresponds from the row selected - so users are able to view and be able to edit the related data. (This first part is completed I can select the data and get the pri key related to the selected row and pass it to page)
[Question]
What would be the best way for me to give the users the ability to view the data, edit the data, update, and delete it(I only need one set of buttons at the top of the page)? The data be retrieved is big. I don't need the ability to page threw the data as in dataview - Would like to get some feed back on ideas andor with some examples.
I appreciate any advice....

My title may not be very clear, but what it means is that normally, when we have a data set, the columns (along x-axis) refer to the properties of a specific record in the data set, whereas all the records of this data set are listed vertically (y-axis). The asp:DataGrid also works this way, in that you can have a data set with a variety of columns (BoundColumn, TemplateColumn, ButtonColumn, etc.) which all denote properties of your data. An advantage of this is that for each record, you can specify for example, that a certain column is a TemplateColumn with a DropDownList bound to another data set, allowing you to pick and choose from this data.
Given this background, the problem I'm having is that I want the records to be like new columns, and the fields to be a fixed set of rows (essentially inverting the x and y-axis of the standard data grid). If I use a pivot table (just a DataTable with a pivot function that allows you to switch the x/y-axes) as a data source, I can get the data displayed by the data grid just fine. What I can't do, however, is make it so that the data grid has "TemplateRow" (this construct does not exist) and bind certain rows to data via a DropDownList, assuming I want to make this data editable.
Does anyone know of a quick way to do this or do I essentially have to take apart the standard asp:DataGrid / spend a lot of time extending its functionality so that I can do the following:

You need to use a repeater to have that level of control over the output. Even then, you want to use a pivot table for your data

Dear All,
I am creating an web project not an web site.
It includes a module for News, the user can add images for the news.
I am able to add it in the folder in my applicaiton.
But while viewing, i am getting the path as Server.Mappath("<imagename>".
While debugging it is getting the path correctly, but it is not displaying the image.
Can any one tell me a solution to get rid of this?
