Hi,

I have developed one user control,i have written most of the functionality on that control, just i have added that to the aspx page, in the ASCX, i have loaded dyamic controls like checkboxes, labels... based on the Checkbox selection, i want some DDL operations(Edit, Create Delete), on database in the button click. in the button click i want checkbox ID, to find which box is selected. i am not getting that ID. Please help me if any knows.

loop selected items in listbox

Hi
I need to write a loop to loop all items in a listbox and run a query for each one.

i have this so far:

for (int i = 0; i < departments.SelectedItem.Selected; i++)
{
}

but its not working, i basically need this

for each row which is selected run query

any help would be great

There's no listbox in ASP.NET ?

use foreach to iterate over the selectedItems, or use a for loop that goes through all the items and checks which ones are selected. What you've written surely won't compile ?

but how would I set the value selected from the listbox would it simply be

departments.SelectedValue?

Ok, Ive tried this:

ListItem item = departments.Items[i].Value;

but get the error:

Cannot implicitly convert type 'string' to 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.ListItem'

I cant find the correct syntax to set the item value.

You are totally lost. Value returns string not ListItem. It should be

ListItem item = departments.Items[i];
item.Value

use foreach as I shown in my first post. foreach is cleaner than this.

Its wrong, the 'Selected' property returns a boolean value.

As CG said you can use Foreach to loop throught all selected items,
OR a for loop to loop through all items and find selected items.
