Hello!
When I set runat="server" on a link of mine the url gets encoded so that for instance ampersand gets replaced with & amp ;. This is usually fine but in my case it´s a thickbox url, and when the url gets encoded the thickbox gets messed up. So is there any way to stop the url from getting encoded when I have runat="server" ?
EDIT: I think maybe I was barking up the wrong tree, this was probably not the cause of the error.

For future reference: & is a special character in HTML, so literal ampersands need to be replaced with the entity & - this goes for URLs as well as everything else. ASP.NET will do some of that for you, but it's a good idea to get in the habit of escaping them yourself.

I created a website using dotnenuke.It has three roles student,sponsor and volunteer.They should only view the pages assigned to them after logging in.This can be possible if the admin can differentiate them and assign security.Now I had a problem i.e,the user is not known to the admin because he is a new member. So I want to assign from the registration itself.

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to have a user be able to click on a word (in the form of a div, button, anything that will work) to select it (a highlight of some sort would be applied) and then click on it again to deselect it. Sounds like it should be simple and I'm probably being dumb, but for some reason im not finding how it can be done (in a non-Flash environment and without checkboxes and all that). The idea is to create an interface that allows the user to directly manipulate items on the screen (e.g. the words might be draggable, etc.). Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

I have a webservice which accesses some methods from the Business layer.
I made a website which uses this webservice, I have given the WEb reference for that web service.
I want to call a WebMethod which uses some structures from the business layer.
I am populating the business layer struct objects in aspx.cs file and sending the input to the Webservice.
It gives compilation error that
Cannot implicitly convert type 'BusinessLayer.ClassName' to 'WebService.ClassName'
I have typecasted the classname as
Webservice.ClassName class1 = new Webservice.ClassName();
But with this I am not able to access class methods.
I am working in C# and ASP.NET 2.0
Can anybody have any idea or suggestion?

I'm having problem converted string date to date.
I have created a very simple test program below, but this will give an error - "Conversion from string to date is invalid"
Dim dtt As DateTime
Dim sDate As String = "28/05/2008" 'date format dd/mm/yyyy
dtt = CDate(sDate)
Is there an ultimate solution about this?

Check your system's date/language settings - it may well be trying to convert the 5-th day of the 28-th month...
Personally, I always avoid using numbers for months if I possibly can - use abbreviated month names instead to help avoid ambiguities like this.

Even declaring dtt to Date still it the error occur - "Conversion from string "dd/mm/yyyy" to type 'Date' is not valid.
I am thinking of processing the date dynamically, either in word format or in integer format, dd/mm/yyyy or mm/dd/yyyy, etc.

Don't use CDate. Use DateTime.TryParse. CDAte is VB6 rubbish, and besides, it throws an exception, as you've found.

In a project i wanted to call Webservice asynchronly nut i dont wantto wait for its response(i mean i dont want to wait until PageOnPreRender which asynchron tasks are complated). I m sure it will give a result. i no care when it is returned back.So my other process will go on.

So do it. No one's stopping you. If you need help with the library you're using to issue HTTP requests / process responses, then you'll need to specify which library that is. If you want help deciding which library / API to use, then you'll need to at least specify which language and platform you're writing to, and what sort of web service you're planning to call. If it's .NET, you'll probably want to ask in one of the .NET-specific forums (.NET, ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, etc...)

Hi,
First of all, forgive me for not making the subject as descriptive of the problem as possible. I do not know how to phrase this problem in a single statement.
I have a project where I need to create an application which will be used by multiple users from multiple locations to post data concurrently to a central database. This can be done very simply with a windows application; however, one of the groups who will be using this application have network access limitations. I have yet to check on the details of these limitations.
My question is if creating such an app in MS SharePoint is possible, and if it is a good idea. There will essentially be 2 web parts, 1 for viewing what is posted, and the other for inputing data. The input web part will simply contain a bunch of text boxes and drop down menus + a submit button.
My reason for exploring this approach is because our company already has a SharePoint which can be accessed by all target users. This will minimize costs because the server is already there. But, as you may have noticed already, I am very new to web part development (I have only read a few articles so far) so I do not know if this can be done. If this is indeed possible, I would also appreciate if someone can send me links on how I can set up the database, etc.
Please advice.

This is a little closer, I guess.
I would store it as a single property and make it a tab seperated list, then you can turn it into an array with the string.Split method.
