Please correct me if I am wrong - AFAIK, if we start a new thread (not from the pool), it will get executed and lock will be released. It won't be queued as it is not accessing the locked resource. Can you tell me why it is a bad way to start new thread inside a lock ?

I am using Menu controls in combination with MultiView controls.
So, I wanted to use the update capability of the AJAX's UpdatePanel Control.
However, it works fine for the MultiView- View controls, but not for the Menu.
The error is generated from WebResource.axd file saying "0.cells is null or not an object" - coming from a statement referring to "rows[0].cells.length".
Anybody knows about it?

In the last days I started to add some ajax functionality to an existing non ajax application using aps.net ajax. One of the tasks was to move an existing gridview into an update panel so that it can be refreshed without page loading. The problem that I’ve encountered was that I couldn’t do a normal (sync) postback from the grid view. So I lost a half a day searching for an answer  .
The solution is to use the ScriptManager RegisterPostBackControl function and register the links/buttons for which you need normal postback here.

I need to consume a webservice on a DOt net applciaion. But the server does not ahve studio installed. How can I do it. Can some one guide me step by step. I know i need to create disco file and wsdl but in what sequece Do not know.

If you're writing a .NET app, you can consume the webservice in your app. Are you saying that you are not using visual studio, or are you saying that the server that runs the app doesn't have visual studio ? If you point visual studio to a web service, it will create the disco files, etc. And you don't need VSS installed on the machine that uses it.

We need to use ADAM as a role and authentication provider. I am able to use ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider in System.web.security namespace to insert user. I would like to AddUserstoRoles. We could not get any sample code for that. We need to implement one or more RoleProvider methods. Could anybody suggest any sample code for this. We are trying with Azman also. Suggestions and sample code if any needed as to what would be the better way to use ADAM provider

Ok, my situation is that I've got an AJAXy login control on a master page. There's basically a link button which launches another page inside a thickbox[^]. If I log in from the home page /Default.aspx then everything behaves.
The problem is when you try and log in from another page e.g. /Businesses/Default.aspx then the server login fails with a 500 error, saying that the method 'Login' failed.
Any ideas?

it's ok
I put save code to insert new record with Submit button .
the thing at the normal that will happen is ,, when i press button and there's some required fileds is empty then nothing happen and RequiredFieldValidator alams me .
the problem : the code of save record is run ..

You can use XmlTextWriter class for this.
You need to import System.Xml namespace for this

Is this possible? I would like to start some experiments using my own DAL, but was wondering if the was a way to bind directly to my entity objects, without coupling through an ObjectDataSource.

Unless I misunderstand what you're asking, the answer is yes. You can assign any collection that supports the IList interface to a DataSource property and bind the objects it contains without using the ObjectDataSource.

Yes, with IList you can bind a collection to a data list control, such as a repeater, gridview, etc. but I want to bind single objects to details forms. If I used an IList, I would need some way of telling the form which collection item to bind to.

It sounds as if you may be talking about a parent-child relationship.
Assuming that I'm right, I would recommend that the child collection was a member of the parent and could be bound easily enough. For example, if I have an object called Library, it may have a property of type List<Book> that contains all books in my library. In that case, if I am binding a collection of Library objects, it is trivial to determine all of the books that are associated with it and bind them as a child-details.
Am I misunderstanding what you're attempting to do?

Hi,
I have a problem..like in my project i have 4 dropdownlsit
and i extended the dropdownlist say 3 & 4 with CascadingDropDown..and it works fine..
but the problem is that when i select dropdownlist 1 then the control goes to the asmx method ie,what we mapped for dropdownlist 3...it's an unwanted code execution.....
can anybody have an idea about this......pls suggest me..
