The date comparison examples I gave before would be how you compare dates.
I'm guessing what you mean is that you want to make sure that the user enters a valid date and compare that to another date.
To do this you can implement code similar to this:

Convert userIPDate to DateTime

return DateNow.CompareTo(userIPDate); will return -1 if DateNow is less than, 1 if greater than and 0 if equal to.

The best way I have found is to subtract one DateTime from another, creating a TimeSpan object. Then use the result of the TimeSpan object to do your testing. Hope this helps!

You can't, not trivially. The backup format is supported by SQL Server, there's no methods you can call to unpack it, unless it's really a zip, or unless you can control SQL Server to do it via interop.

I have a Class - LookupItem that uses XmlRoot attribute so that when serialized individually outputs under element named Item.
Now if I have a List<lookupitem> when I serialize it the lookup item class always serializes as LookupItem and not Item.
What I'm wanting to see is:
<Clean>
<Item>
....
</Item>
</Clean>
but all I get is:

<LookupItem>
....
</LookupItem>
</Clean>
The code I'm currently using to do the serialization is below, but I have tried doing serialization with extra types, XmlAttributeOverrides and still cannot get the output correct.

I think you need to apply the XmlRootAttribute to the LookupItemList class. So Something like:
[XmlRoot("Clean")]
public class LookupItemList ...
Then you would need to do the same thing with the LookupItem class, but use XmlElementAttribute to define the name as "Item".
FYI...In your code example above you don't use xr or xao anywhere, are you sure this is the code you are using?
