How to implement the nodes and child nodes in the treeview in asp.net 2.0 version

Hi all
I am editing a datalist and i am trying to upload file from that editing file
my code
------------
Dim WriterID As String = DirectCast(e.Item.FindControl("WriterID"), Label).Text
Dim Writer As String = DirectCast(e.Item.FindControl("Writer"), TextBox).Text
Dim ImageFileName As String = DirectCast(e.Item.FindControl("ImageFileName"), TextBox).Text
But the upfile (HtmlInputFile) control is not finding giving error
'System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
'
Dim upfile As HtmlInputFile = DirectCast(e.Item.FindControl("upfile"), System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlInputFile)
How can i found HtmlInputFile in my datalist control

What sort of control are you expecting ? Usually a website just streams the file down as a download.

You mean, deleting this word doc by using Client-side script? then, the answer is NO. You should write the server-side code to delete that file.

Yeah. What Paddy Boyd said is right. Write "
File.Delete(filePath); " in Button Click. If the user click this button which is located on the page which is shown in the browser, this code will be executed and will delete the file.

Hi,
to do the same you must have rights to delete that file.
(Rights to client to delete file).
Then you can delete that file.
Its easy to delete the file from server.

I'm not sure the question is clear. If the file is on the server, you can delete it on the server. The client can be offered a button by which they trigger the server side code to delete it. If the file is on the client, you cannot delete it.

What about adding the attribute while building? For example.
<br />
TreeNode tn = new TreeNode();<br />
tn.Attribute.Add("onclick","yourfun();");
just an example.. I dont know how you build the treeview dynamically.

I am loading the treeview nodes from the database.
In TreeNode there is no attribute.add property.
still problem exists

This is also not working. Actually i want to collapse the navigation frame that contain the treeview after clicking the TreeNode. The page is loaded in to another frame in the same window. My treeview is populated from the database.

I hve created a menu like
item Product
it1 p1
it2 p2
it3 p3
I created this menu by edit menu property. Now My problem is i want to disable an item according to a condition. For eg. i hve to chek whether this product p3 is in stock table of dbase. if it is not there then i want to disable P3 .I hve seen some XML related articles but i dont know XML . How can we disable an item in menu. I tried for e.item.enabled =false. But that too didn;t work .How can i do this. Please help me

Hi,
Requirement: In application start,the schedule is triggered and it should generate report by fetching data from database(DB2) and export into word or excel and send a mail daily. This scheduler should work as background process, should not depend on the browser. Windows services or windows scheduler should not be used as per requirement
Please help me in this regard.

Strange ! Why it should not be used, where it is the right solution ?

Create a standalone application that works on background, and does this job. Start the exe on application_start using System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(). If you could use windows service, it would be a better choice.
