asp.net webpage fails to load a C# windows control in it

i have a windows control which is to be loaded on a webpage(.aspx page)
control is loaded with the aid of "object" tag
the control is developed in C#.net(managed code basically)
the control makes use of the system resources and even makes use of some other dll's too

problem:
the control fails to load on the webpage

first solution tried:
change the .net security with the aid of caspol
so i tried giving full trust to all code
this worked fine and the control got loaded.

however this worked fine only when the webpage was a part of the default website in IIS
in case if the webpage which hosts the control is a part of a virtual website apart from the default website
the control is failing to load

so what might be the problem...??

from some of the blogs which i read...the .net tries to give trust
to assemblies based on from where the assembly is getting streamed
so i also tried to load the control by making this site a trusted one
still the control didn't load

any idea...as to might b wrong....

Hi! ALL
I m generating Crystal Reports by Push method (via DataSet);
but while executing it display a message & four fields in which two are editable & two are uneditable as following
report further inofmration.
Dataset name;
Server name : DataSet name;
DataBase name ..uneditable
User ID ..
Password ...
All these are requested when generating reports with pull method nevertheless I passed all these in ConnectionInfo to TableLogOnInfo.

so how i tackle this.
Any suggestion regarding this will be anticipated.

I done the report.
The solution of above problem is:
DataSet ds = GetDataset(); // generate dataset here.
DataTable dt = ds.Tables[0];
report.Load(Server.MapPath("report.rpt"));
report.SetDatabaseLogon("abc","xyz");
report.SetDataSource(dt);
CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource= report;
CrystalReportViewer1.DataBind();
That's way i achieve the task.

hi all,
i would like to save a file from clients machine onto server without using an fileupload or user interaction. It should be done when a user clicks a button then say a file in C:\\temp.txt(like any file) shuld be save in my server.any ideas..

To add to the answer you got, the reason you can't do this, and the reason you can't get at a file upload path in javascript, is security. While your use may be benign, imagine if someone could write a webpage, and make it so when you browsed it, any file that had a known path ( such as Windows files ) could be uploaded to a server ?

Hi there.

I'm having an issue with enumerating through the bound items in my DataList. It seems as though the Items property of the DataList control only contains the control that you add as an Item Template.

Is there anyway to enumerate through the DataList's BOUND items and convert it back to the original control type?

I've solved the problem.

The way to enumerate is:

For Each item As DataListItem In lstControlList
For Each ctl As Control In item.Controls
CType(ctl, MyControlObject).Property = Value
Next
Next

Hi experts,
I need a linkbutton/button to download the files which my clients have uploaded.

Below is my upload method and it works.

The files format that are uploaded are not consistent. Usually it's excel, word or pdf format.

You need to set the header and then do a Response.BinaryWrite. You can also specify the filename, which will force a download. There's tons of examples on the web.

Where you are storing the file name ? Get the file name user need to be downloaded and do a Response.Redirect() to the file URL.

Hi All...
We are developing a site...we have done all the coding part and we have also executed every part of it successfully...after a few days we just checked out our app but now it is throwing an exception like

Type: 'Acme.SubAcme.ConvertMeTypeConverter' cannot be found...

Hi friends,
I am using tree view control in asp.net2.0 which have that controls but if i want to use it in asp.net 1.1 then there is not an option in the controls for the tree view.

now i want to use tree view in asp.net 1.1 and looking for any hint how they will use in asp.net 1.1
i searched on google for the solution but didn't get it..
so if you have alternatives to this then please reply me...

There is no built in tree view controller for ASP.NET 1.1. You can't use that control in ASP.NET 1.1, because it's .NET 2.0 compatible. You can write a custom control for ASP.NET 1.1.

iam getting the data from a database and iam storing the data in a datatable in one event and i want this data table in another click event with same values.but the problem is the page is posted back the values are not available in the datatable in another event.any method is there to retains the datatable value as it is even the page is post back with out using the sessions or view state
