Store it in Session or viewstate. Caching is not a good solution for your scenario.

hi sir how r u...wat u said i did that only but i think session takes lot of space if more users acessing the same page .actual my requirement .iam getting the data from database into the datatable in one click event .and i want this data table values in another click event.but because of page post back the datatable does contain any values.how this problem will solve plz help me in this regard.

Have you tried viewstates ? It's scope is only in the page. So no need to worry about server resource utilization.

sir...is there is any other alternate wat i mean with out session and viewstate..can't we achive this problem...k if we use view state or session which one is better one sir.

Viewstate can be tampered with and doesn't persist across pages. Session takes up room on the server. The Session is a concept that is not unique to ASP.NET, viewstate was created to create state within a stateless environment. They both have advantages, at different times.

There won't be much problem. But if your datatable is much bigger, viewstate also will be huge. As Christian told, it is easy to tamper, so if you are keeping very sensitive information, go for sessions. If you need to keep the data only in this page and it's not sensitive, use viewstate. If all your users are seeing the same data, then cache your datatable for improved performance.

If all your users are seeing the same data, then cache your datatable for improved performance.

You told you have many visitors seeing this page simultaneously. So ti improve performance, you can cache the datatable. But this is applicable if all the users are seeing same data and not user specific data.

Assume you have a website something like CP, and in your page you display all the latest articles. So this information will be same for all the visitors. You cache this data and when another user requests, load it from the cache.

Hope it makes sense.

thanks for u valuable suggestions .now my table contains a rows of 150.so will i use viewstate sir..at present iam using seession. u told me this senetence ----

there is one way to do this.

Get query in which you get multi column result.
Then bind dataset to listbox.

Hi,
you can write query like.

SELECT column1 + '-' + column2 AS MyColumn FROM tableName

Now after getting value in dataset. Bind dataset to listbox.

myList.DataSource = datset // which you get from above query<br />
myList.DataTextField = "MyColumn";<br />
myList.DataBind();<br />
