hi,
i want to open a popup window from an aspx form which should contain the content from the server . is there any way to pass the content to the popup window. also i have to print the content of the popup and return a variable indicating that the doucmnet is printed.
is it possible. i m new to javascript in asp.net. please help

You should try a ModalPopup window within an UpdatePanel, both of which are available from the AJAX toolkit I've used these controls and they are very easy to integrate.

Hi guys. For a website I am doing, I need to show images in a fullscreen window ( yeah, I know... )
So, I do this:
window.open(href, windowname, 'scrollbars=no,toolbar=no,status=no,menubar=no,type=fullWindow,fullscreen');
This works perfectly when running off my local machine. When I run off the server, the window goes the size of the full screen, but doesn't go 'fullscreen'. I'm guessing some IE7 setting is stopping it ? Is there anything I can do ? It's also ignoring my requests for no status bar, and there's some bar at the top with the image name in it.

Starting with Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP SP2, there seems to be a new behavior regarding the Full Screen (Kiosk Mode):
Using the window.open method with fullscreen=yes results in a maximized window, not a kiosk mode window.

Yeah, apparently some people got sick of sites spoofing parts of the Windows UI and blocking out others in order to push their nefarious wares. No sense of adventure, those folk.
Anyway, i suppose you could add a bit of text - "push F11 for full-screen". Or use Java...

Yeah, that's what I figured. The whole idea what that when people look at a full size screenshot, they have no options apart from pressing my 'close' link to go back. I guess now I need to work out if the window has been minimised and show it again, etc, as well as redoing all my screenshots in a lower size to take the extra space the window is using into account.
I did get why they probably did it, but what a PITA that I can build something locally, and then have the behaviour change when I move it online.

AFAIK, it's 'cause the sites are in different zones. Local / Intranet and Trusted Sites all default to allowing full-screen, chrome-free windows, while sites in the big scary 'Net don't. I suppose you could cajole your users into adding your site to their Trusted Sites category...

They could also be given instructions on how to edit the registry so it works.
this just totally sucks - I added code to set the window size instead, and I got a 200x200 window, apparently if it's not fullscreen, I'm not allowed to go higher than that. Or somesuch drivel.
I have it working now, but only by turning some display stuff off in Firefox.

I am very new to ASP.Net.
I was trying to put some controls on the screen but i m unable to move it using mouse. By key board(using space bar) it moves.
What might be the reason?

How are you trying to move controls ? Do you mean in the design view ?
ASP.NET, and indeed, HTML is based on a top down document model. You don't position controls the way you would in a winforms app, you simply lay them out top to bottom, although you can use CSS To position controls absolutely, it should not be the rule that you define a bunch of controls and then position them all absolutely in that manner.
if you're using the design view, forget it. Your best bet is to run the web app, play with the script and keep refreshing the page. The auto generated HTML really sucks.

I want to remove a TABLE node by using the following javascript.
e = document.getElementById( "tableId" );
document.body.removeChild( e );
However, it doesn't remove the node. It says "Invalid argument" in the second line of code.
Can someone point out why it won't let me do that?

It might not be a child of the body...?
Generally, i'd write e.parentNode.removeChild(e) to detach the element e from its parent, unless i was absolutely certain that the node i was removing was a direct child of the body. Heck, i'd probably do it then too, just 'cause it's obvious what i'm doing. Also, it reminds me of that cartoon where the hapless character saws off the branch he's sitting on...

You're right, it's actually a direct child of a DIV tag.
But the DIV element doesn't support removeChild(), so how would I remove the table tag?

Hi i need ideas/ or any help in creating a audit functionality.
I want to audit
1. user logins to application
2. under each session what transactions are made
3. under each session, transaction pair what sql server table, data was accessed, changed, updated, deleted.
Can we do this with triggers?

Yes, if you're only auditing actions on the database, triggers make a lot of sense
