Does anybody know of a half decent (free?) menu control that has nested levels and works inside an update panel?
I've just spent two days trying to get the ASP.NET Menu control to play nicely in an UpdatePanel and it won't. I've followed the suggested JS hacks to get it to work but failed miserably.
Most of the menus on CP are all .NET 1 and I now don't have the time to convert over so I can test suitability.
All I want is a two level menu - that will work in an update panel so I can partially render whatever they choose from the menu. I want a single server side eventhandler and be able to determine by name, position, value, I don't care, which item was clicked.
The reason I don't go out and buy one is that the project is for a charity and I am doing it in what little spare time I have as a freebie. Ultimately, I will have to resort to the MS one and give them full page reloads when they choose a new menu item.....yeuch
If anybody wants to donate one they will be credited, and then plagiarised in an article (with possibly a little mention at the bottom, when I finally write my first article).

yes you can get the dropdownlist in main page by window.opener.document.getElementById(ddlID);
and then add the newly added items into the list like this[^]

Error Happens Here:
MailMessage NewEmail = new MailMessage(); // Error happens upon instantiation of my email class
I put the email code inside of a method that passes parameters into the class as follows:
public static void SendEmail(string from, string to, string bcc, string cc, string subject, string body)
{
// Instantiate a new instance of MailMessage
MailMessage NewEmail = new MailMessage(); // ERROR: "The Specified String is not in the form required by an email address ::
// Set the sender address of the mail message
NewEmail.From = new MailAddress(from);
// Set the recepient address of the mail message
//mMailMessage.To.Add(to);
//mMailMessage.To = new MailAddressCollection().Add(new MailAddress(to));
NewEmail.To.Add(new MailAddress(to));
{
// Set the Bcc address of the mail message
NewEmail.Bcc.Add(new MailAddress(bcc));
}
// Check if the cc value is null or an empty value
if ((cc != null) && (cc != string.Empty))
{
// Set the CC address of the mail message
NewEmail.CC.Add(new MailAddress(cc));
}
// Set the subject of the mail message
NewEmail.Subject = subject;
// Set the body of the mail message
NewEmail.Body = body;
// Secify the format of the body as HTML
NewEmail.IsBodyHtml = true;
// Set the priority of the mail message to normal
NewEmail.Priority = MailPriority.Normal;
// Instantiate a new instance of SmtpClient
SmtpClient mSmtpClient = new SmtpClient();
// Send the mail message
mSmtpClient.Send(NewEmail);
}
I'm calling the method this way:
string from = EmailTextBox.Text;
string to = ContactIdentifier.EmailAddress;
string bcc = "";
string cc = "";
string subject = subjectTextBox.Text;
string body = Emailbody.ToString();
MailHelper.SendEmail(from, to, bcc, cc, subject, body);
Any Thoughts?

<br />

{<br />
link.Enabled = true; <br />

Please do not use such words like 'very urgent'. They are considered relatively very rude here. You may like to review Forum Posting Guidelines here:

How do I go about dynamically assigning a TextBox a value in edit mode in Formview?
I dont want to grab the value from the TextBox, but instead, I want to assign it a value of User.Identity.Name when the formview loads...
Thank you!

I suspect that 'Formview' means this is a winforms question ?
If you want to assign a value that's actual code, not a static string, you need to write actual code, not use the designer.

Oh definitely, i've tried different CType and DirectCast functions and I cant get it to dynamically assign the TextBox the User.Identity.Name string.
I'm doing this in VB.
Thanks.

Here is what I have:
a gridview that has listed tickets, and when you select on a ticket, it pops up the formview
the formview has editable fields and one field i wish to not have edited is the "modified by" text box
so i tried this:
Protected Sub FormView1_DataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles FormView1.DataBound
If FormView1.CurrentMode = FormViewMode.Edit Then
Dim ModifiedBy As TextBox = CType(FormView1.FindControl("ModifiedByTextBox"), TextBox)
If Not ModifiedBy Is Nothing Then
ModifiedBy.Text = User.Identity.Name
End If
End If
End Sub
Still resulted in the Modified By textbox have the already assigned value that was pulled in the query.

I have a aspx page that shows results from a database. How can yo mimic the client to think that the submit button has been clicked and update the results from a database. I want this to be done periodically. Thanks

In the code behind, all you have to do is:
[button name].click()

You could use a javascript timer object to periodically refresh the page.

An elegant blend of JavaScript Timer and a XMLHttp should work charms here.

Hi all!
I have a gridview with an imagebutton inside a templatefield
<asp:TemplateField><ItemTemplate>
<asp:ImageButton ID="Riepilogo" runat="server" CommandArgument="<%#((GridViewRow)Container).RowIndex%>"
ImageUrl="~/img/search.png"
CommandName="riepilogo" ToolTip="Riepilogo impianto"
onClick="prova" OnClientClick="src='img/blue_loader.gif'; Visible='True'"/>
</ItemTemplate></asp:TemplateField>
When i click that imagebutton, the onclientclick event changes the standard
image to a "waiting" animated gif.
The code for CommandName is something like that:
...
Response.ClearHeaders();
Response.Clear();
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;
filename=output.pdf");
Response.ContentType = myStuff.getAppSetting("ContentTypePDF");
Response.Flush();
Response.BinaryWrite(pdf);
Response.End();
...
This generates a PDF file that pops up for the download.
Now i have to change the image back to normal (not waiting). How do i
accomplish this?
Thank you in advance.
|
|
|
|
|
AFAIK once you have Response.End() then you can't do anything after that.
-----
|
|
|
|
|
Ok, so how do i accomplish the "wait for page" task?
|
|
|
|
|
Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition",
"attachment; filename=" + name);
by ths iam getting file down loadmessage as open, save cancel option by clicking the save option iam saving the file sucessfully in the client machine but now i want the path where the file was saved
|
|
|
|

You can't get it. The browser (rightfully, for security reasons) cannot access resources on the user's local machine. Why would you want this information anyway?
