Use Decimal for a variable then, as was said, Iterate through.

I am creating and saving rtf files but I want to be able to put in the Author and comments about each file but I can't figure out how to set these properties in code. Can anyone help me. I appreciate any comments you can give.

Thanks paul,it worked with 0's and 1's.Now another problem
.This array is loaded from a text file.
when i check two numbers in an array if the numbers is more than 9
say if 9<10 it should go to the inner statements. But it is skipping. for numbers less than 9 ok .It is not sorting
say
4<9 it is going to the next statment and it is sorting

Paul may be able to make sense of this, but if you only want to make sense to him, you should respond on the thread, so he gets an email. Otherwise, start again. Post some code and explain in a way that makes sense to peopel who didn't see the original post.

I need to do aprogram for client and server that enables the server to have controll to the clinet and capture the screen of the client(see the client screen )

So , what are the built-in classes that will help me to do this program ????

There's nothing built in that will do any of this core stuff. There's plenty of classes you can use to write the network communication stuff, and to capture the screen.

Why do you need to write the 1000th version of this program ? It's even built in to windows nowadays.

because its my senior project ( project we do it before graduation)
i know that there are lots of software that do the same job but i want to do by my self

OK, so you want to write a web app, or you want to write a client side app ? If you want to run in the browser, you need AJAX. otherwise, any tutorial on any sort of client server app will be more than enough to help you. There's probably some right here on code project.

Hi,

I am creating a web app using using VB 2005 pro and sql 2005 pro. When I send my data from the web form to the database it appears as 11/10/2007 00:00:00. How do I stop the time from appearing?

Here's a piece of code where I send to DB

Dim cmd As New SqlCommand("insert into tblDetails(adno,date) values@adno,@date)", conn)
cmd.Parameters.Add("@adno", SqlDbType.VarChar).Value = TxtAdNo.Text

The datetime stores both a date and a time. If you don't specify a time this portion of the value will default to 00:00:00. If you don't want to display the time portion of the value in your web app, call the ToString method of your DateTime object with an appropriate format string e.g. dd/MM/yyyy.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I am a complete novice to programming so please bear with me.

I use a bound datagrid to view my database data so there is no VB data behind code.

here is the query the datagrid uses:

SELECT [AdNo], [Date], [Fullname], [Sex], [Tutorgroup], [Details], [Time], [Consultant] FROM [Viewallconsultations] ORDER BY [Date]

How do I use the ToString function?

On SQL server, why isn't there just a date datatype? if I change this datatype to text then my date shows up ok in VB view but this will cause issues if I wanted to sort by date, etc

any more help please?

I don't do any Windows Forms development so I can't say know exactly how to solve your problem. However this article[^] suggests that you need to define a Column Style for your date column. This might be something you can do through the control designer, or you can implement it in code as the article describes.
