Which database are you using?? SQL Server, Access, MySql, ...???
The .DLL you mentioned doesn't come with any Microsoft products that I know of. Did you Declare any calls to this .DLL file?? What is this .DLL for??

Paint event belongs to Control, and TextBox inherits from Control, so it does have one.
This is what MSDN tell us about it: "This event supports the .NET Framework infrastructure
and is not intended to be used directly from your code.
Occurs when the control is redrawn. This event is not relevant for this class. "
I suggest you try attaching a Paint handler to it and see if and when it gets called...

The textbox does have a paint event, BUT it draws itself outside the paint event, owner drawing a text box is a real pain.

TextBox is repainted by Form, therefore you may use form’s paint method to do custom drawing in text box.
Following is a small code snippet which may give you some idea about use of Form’s paint event-
Private Sub Form1_Paint(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.PaintEventArgs) Handles Me.Paint
For Each cntrl As Control In Me.Controls
If TypeOf (cntrl) Is TextBox Then
cntrl.BackColor = Color.Red
End If

Hi to all!
I am again in this fantastic and very active group, after I resolved a previous problem about TDateTime (with guideline of Dave Kreskowiak), for another problem:
Unfortunately, Compact Framework version of OpenFileDialog (may be also normal version), do not recognize the entire file system in Windows Mobile 2003 based devices, but his "scope" is limited to the "\My Documents" folder.
Absolutely, I need to implement in the code I'm writing, the possibility to choose a file to open (read with StreamReader function),through entire file system (included SD Card).
Is there some simple solution (inside VB .Net Compact Framework environment),to do this or necessarily I'll must to turn to use of others complicated (for me) solutions like use of API, to mix C++ with VB, mix unmanaged code with managed ...etc..etc?
Thanks in advance for help and/or suggests.

hi,
Just want ask anyone who knows how to validate input on textbox.
In such a way that it will only allow numbers to be placed in the textbox.
If letters on the keyboard are pressed, it will not show anything nor msgbox.
I made several searches but what I got is always showing msgbox and reset the textbox but still displays the letter pressed on the keyboard.
hope you can give me useful codes on this..

You can easily do this by just using the following code in the Textbox's KeyPress event.
If Not IsNumeric(e.KeyChar) Then
e.Handled = True
Else
e.Handled = False
End If

It will work with any form of text input, my articles focus on this, please take a look. The code above, while correct, also blocks space bar, back space and various other functions such as copy and paste.

Abstract Class in vb.net is a MustInherit Class means which cannot be instantiated you cannot create the object of an Abstract class, you have to inherit it in some other class provided that its not an abstract class also in order to create an object of it. They are basically only used for implementation of base classes.
