Any idea on combining a series of jpeg file to gif animation image??

There's an article on this site about creatng animated gifs, I thought. Loading JPGs is no different to any other bitmap format. Be aware that jpeg is 24 bit and gif is 8 bit, so you will lose quality in the process.

hi friends ,
i'm using web application, i want to scroll a text in my page & the value is from dbase, but each time the value is different , so for each scrolling the scroll should show the new value. Any idea is appreciated..

You can scroll text with javascript, plenty of examples online. If the value differs, you need to write code to pass the value each time to your script.

its a good idea that to set data using javascript , but the problem is i'm getting a dbtable, the rows count will vary every 5 minutes, so how can i fetch tat data using jscript. Also, the new data will show only on next scroll..Any idea is appreciated...

No, it's the ONLY way you can scroll text, unless you use a marquee tag ( are they still supported ? ).

Sounds to me like you have a bit of javascript to be writng, both to do the scrolling as you want, and to fetch data to scroll.

I tried to compile a program I am writing with the Debug Compiler and it said there were no errors. The compiler game the following message. What does code 0 mean?
The program '[3952] lessonProgram.exe' has exited with code 0 (0x0).
When I compiled it with the Debug Compiler the form did not come up for me to view. Does anyone know why?
When I am done with my program do I use the release compiler?
Where do I get info on how to create a startup.exe for a final release of the program.

F5 compiles and runs. CTRL-B just builds, it doesn't run the app

Yes. Your users also need the .NET framework installed to run it

Where can they find the .Net framework. Is it included in windows XP?
Yes, I mean an installer. I read a tech doc on the Internet that said I can create a setup.exe as an installer.

This is a standard debugger output whenever a thread exits. It is not something to be concerned about, unless that thread wasn't supposed to exit.
In this case, if you're seeing this and instead you expect to see your program open, it means your program is exiting before you see it. Either there's an exception, or you're explicitly closing it somewhere.

In almost all cases, it means the thread exited without errors. If there were an error, that would be non-zero.

As the guys have said, you dont need to worry about this, it means everything has compiled fine.
Dont confuse the debug and build, when you Build, your Form will not come out. after you build by Pressing on your keyboard (Ctr + Shift+ b) , then you press F5 to see your Form.

What is the meaning of your Question, you release the Compiler?, when you are done with Debuging and you feel that your code is fine , then you can change from Debug to Release before you Deploy your application.

And i saw you asked a Question , about .NET if its not installed in XP. when your users have no .NET installed into their system,Automatically when they attempt to install the Application the Message will popup for them informing them that .NET need to be installed and ask them if they want to download it. if they say yes they will be pointed to a microsoft site where they will download it.
Lastly you have to know the version the framework you are using.

i using my computer to receive data from a device. however, the device is a 16bits device and it will send 2 ASCII code a time and this make me headache in retreive back the character i want.
for example. if i set character "AB".. it wil send &H4241 or decimal 16961.
can anyone help me in retrive this data back to "AB" instead of &H4241? thank you for the viewing.

You can use bit masking
char a = (val & 0xFF00) >> 8;
char b = (val & 0xFF);
The bit masking strips either the high or low byte, and the shift moves the high byte down. Untested, but this is the general idea.

An even easier way to do this is to use ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetString(byte[] )
It will assume each character is encoded into 1 byte each, chopping the bits itself.
This assumes, of course, that one can read the data in as a byte. Since he's reading from a device, I suspect that isn't a problem, but if it is, you can use the BitConverter object to convert from int to byte[].
Edit:
By the way, hex 4241 (decimal 16961) is
01000010 01000001
in binary. If you notice, that is two values: 66 and 65, the ASCII codes for the letters B and A, respectively (note capitalization).
So the bytes will need to be re-ordered, also, as they are apparently Big Endian. There are methods in the .NET framework to do this as well.

Hi all!
Its been a while, ive got just one question, previously I was accessing my database which is on SQL Server 2005, but now that I have exported that db out and included into my project space, ive changed the connection string to access the so called 'local' db at the directory folder where my project is.
The problem is, during application runtime, I could still insert, update and delete but when I close the application and reload it back, the changes made to the DB is lost. So im wondering where ive gone wrong, btw im not using any dataset.

Alright I think I might had just solved this.
It seems that the effect is not written to the DB during debug mode but works normally when the application is executed after its been published.

This is probably because you're using an Access database in your project folder. When you compile the app, the database file is flagged as "Copy Always" and is being copied to the target folder when your app's .EXE file is written to, usually ...\projectFolder\bin\Debug. So, every time you compile your app, you're overwriting the database your the Debug version of the app is using with the copy in your project folder. Look in your project folder tree and you should find multiple copies of your database.

It works exactly the same with an SQL Server 2005 Express database file.

Don't ask twice. You can Scale a graphics object, which will zoom. Or you can use the DrawImage overload that takes a size to draw from, and a size to scale to. Depends really on what you're trying to do.
