Hi,
My requirement is: If a mail has been pending in particular login for more than 3 days, a mail should go from admin to that particular login automatically. I am trying to do this in ASP.NET 1.1. Can someone help me out?

pending where ? You mean if it's sitting in someone's outbox and has not been sent ? Where is the mail, and how do you intend to do this with a web app ? Is the web app running on the same server as the mail server ?

It is pending in Someone's Inbox and he didn't open it. Yes, it is a web application and i really dont know how to go at it. Yes, both application and mail server are on the same server.

Then you need to work out how to connect to the mail server ( exchange ? ). What does the app do ? I mean, if you send an admin email automatically, what's the UI do ?

There is nothing to do with UI. Only a mail will be sent to the User Saying that he got a mail before 3 days and this should be automatic. I think this will happen in the background.

OK, so the question has nothing to do with ASP.NET. You probably want to write a windows service that does this. The steps would be
1 - find out about any API that your mail server offers
2 - write the code to look for messages
3 - ask in the right forum when you're stuck.

Does anybody know where I can find a command line utility for compressing javascript files? I want to use some sort of tool to compress javascript files when they are deployed via a NAnt script.

Dear Friends,
How to clear a session,when F5 or refresh button is clicked..?
The Scenario is as follows..
I 've a session,which maintains an user's name and password..
when a button is clicked, these details are fetched from a session and filled in the appropriate text boxes..Now
When button is clicked, though the page gets submitted,session keeps the value.
Now when user clicks on F5, or clicks on refresh button from IE6, the session should be cleared..
Is it possible..?

Session variables are supposed to keep their values. I believe that you are just using the wrong tool. Where do you get the user name and password from in the first place, and why do you think that you need to store them in session variables?

Actually speaking, I just said an example with username and password. I just want to know,whether i can retain the values, all the times,except while pressing F5.
I want to know this,because I think this logic could help me in a mini project that I am doing. As I am facing such a need, I posted this thread.

No, you can't. If you want to do something different when the page is reloaded, you have to keep track of the requests so that you can detect if a request is repeated.

Dear Friends,
Could any of u tell me, how to restrict copying and pasting of text into an Number restricted field.?
Say, I have a text box which should accept only Amount..
So,I have restricted text entry to that text box,by javascript.
But,a block of text is copied and pasted into that field.
Thus tell me how I could avoid this?

I don't think this can be done easily. What you could do though is handle the JavaScript onchange event for your INPUT control and prevent the user from navigating away from the control if it contains non-numeric input. Follow this link[^] for an example of a function that checks whether a string is numeric. If the string is not numeric, cancel the onchange event.

Here is the situation
I have a web page where I use the following code for prepopulate dates into two text boxes(in Page_Load event),
If Not IsPostBack Then
Me.DateFromTextBox.Text = System.DateTime.Now.AddDays(-15).ToShortDateString
Me.DateToTextBox.Text = System.DateTime.Now.ToShortDateString

Now I have a date picker icon next to each text box and the user selects the date by clicking the icon(another aspx page opens, usual java script date picker stuff),

Now I am not able to capture these values selected using datepicker, If the user enters the date without selecting from datpicker I am able to capture the values properly,
No matter what I do I am not able to capture the dates picked using date picker, am I missing anything here

I don't know how to get values from another page.
However, instead of another page, you might want to check out AJAX calendar extender at www.asp.net/ajax.
I just added it to my page, and it works well.

Try it without the readonly="true" property of the textboxes and see if that works...

Hi,
Which version are you using? If you are using .net 2.0 then probably you may use CalenderControl which comes with .Net. That serves your purpose I feel. But the thing is the control do not pops up in a different window, instead it gets visible in the same page. Its really good control with lot of readymade functionality.

HI,
we have a web service and our application(.net 1.1, C#, oracle) consumes this web service. By default the security(authentication) is given anonymous, now as for security reasons we want to remove this option.
So lets say we use Integrated Windows Authentication. Doing so we would get Access Denied 401 error. On searching though it is found that we could pass few credentials and access the web service (this works fine)
What are the cons in providing user credentials in the code?
What are the steps to be followed to make a web service secure and accessible?
Is there a way that a web service can be accessed after removing anonymous access and not providing any credentials in the code?
