Why don't you use Guid.NewGuid()?
I know you don't really need GUID, but it won't hurt, will it?

Use a Guid. It is designed for this purpose. Sure it is globally unique, but creating an ID that is only locally unique is more complex so why bother.

If you want to change the GUI from an other thread, you have to use Invoke[^] and InvokeRequired[^]!

The problem is that form elements can only be manipulated from the thread that is running the UI. There is a method called Invoke on the form that you must use to do this from another thread. The docs for this method contain a reasonable example.

Another way to avoid using invoking and delegates...is to set the
CheckForIllegalCrossThreadCalls property to false, although it's better to use invoking

I have a Class Library in which i have lot many functions to implement my service but the problem is maximum of functions are Having similar names and similar parameters etc. when i want to use any of these functions i am some what confused which one is the one which exactly i shoould use. So is there any way to "Provide the Description of the function" along with the Prototype of the function which comes as default due to intellisence of MicroSoft.
I tried the [Description("xgdfgdfg")] attribute above the function defination but no use.
Can any body know how to get the user defined description for a function

just type /// before your function name , VS will then build some 'comments tags' you just have to fill.
such as
///
/// my summary for intellisens
///
/// <param name="a_parameter" />my param descr. for intellisens
