How can i reference form2 in project2 from form1 in project1 where project1 and 2 are in the same solution

just right click the project1 choose add reference choose tab project and choose project2
then in form1 add imports project1

and then you can just open form2 as if it was in the same project

be aware that once you reference project2 into project1 you can not reference project1 into project2 (or something like that, it's been a long day Poke tongue | ;-P

)

Thanks for ur reply, however this works only with VS2005 and not VS2003. Iam using VS2003. How can i do it in VS2003?

It's exactly the same. Setting a reference has not changed between the two versions. In 2003, right-click the References folder and click Add Reference. In the dialog that shows up, click on the Projects tab. The rest should be obvious.

Hello Friends,

We have Created setup of my project , when we try to install then it work proper but if we run setup on another machine it give error.

//Error
Unable to locate application file 'DemoProject.msi'.

IF you deploy your application in your clients machine , you should first check if .NEt frameworks is installed, and not just .NEt framework , but the correct version. its difficult for me to help you , because you posted half information.

What version of VS did you use for your Project?
What RDBMS did you use for your Project.
Note that if you try to install your project from a network share, you will have problem with .NEt Security Issues.
Please elaborate when you post on this Forums or you will be ignored

The good news is that even if the client does not have the correct .Net framework you can still deploy an application.

If the client is missing the framework it is automatically, with the users permission, downloaded at installation time.

I'm guessing that you did not include the msi and exe files for the setup.

Both of these need including - the msi file contains information of how to install the application, for Windows, and needs to be included in your deployments.

I could be completely wrong here - I'l find out soon enough...

The program code doesn't come out as supposed to be, the compilation is using the old code and form, not the updated one. For example, even if I add a new button on the form, it comes out without that new button. I can't find out what goes wrong at the compilation. Could anyone tell me about this, please?

The errors tab will show you the errors. That the program runs the last good version isn't the most idiotic thing about VS2005, but it's up there.

Try rebuilding the project so that it links all the modules, forms etc again.
It sounds like your new changes have either not been compiled or not been linked again.

Is it possible to read Outlook emails and also view any attachments to any email via VB.Net 2005 The reason I am asking is that I have a user who has megs and megs of data and this should really be on a VB.Net app. I am thinking of download his emails into some database and use VB.Net as a front end as their emails are taking up valuable space on our Exchange Server.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I know this should be very simple but I can't get it to work.

Here's the problem:
I'v got 5 tabs in this order (for the moment) 'Overall','Info','Place,'Sort','Account'

now I need to get the 'Info' tab as last tab.
Normally I would just adjust the order in the property 'tabpages' of my tabcontrol (with the up and down buttons) however this doesn't work.
I'm thinking that the following is the reason why it doesn't work

the tabpages 'Overall' and 'Info' are in the ancestor of my form (because these tabs will be used everywhere in the programme) the 3 other tabs were added.

Now my question would be: Am I right to assume that the ancestor is forcing the tabs 'Overall' and 'Info' to be the first two. And if so can I prevent this so that I can place the tab 'Info' at the end?

Error in .mde file

When I have converted my .mdb to a .mde file it shows an error while opening some forms in that .mde file, it shows the following error.

That command isn't available in a MDE database <br />

Could it be problem while I did the coversion or is it an error in coding?

Strictly speaking this is more of an Access database or VBA question rather than a VB .Net question.

Do you understand the difference between an MDB and MDE file?

One feature of MDE databases is that they do not allow the user to view VBA(visual basic for applications) code.
This is a way of protecting developers' code from being changed or stolen.

My guess is that there is something in the VBA that is not able to operate in an MDE file.

What I suggest is looking at the VBA, in the MDB, that is kicked off when one of the malfunctioning forms open.
Compare this to a form that is working and you may spot something.

Yes it is a VBA application. The application was written by somebody else. I have to convert it to an MDE. When I see the VB code it is all fine and working for each form. But there is a Main form that comes up first while running the MDE. It seems similar to an MDI Form as in VB but I can not spot that form any where in the MDB. When i take startup option in the tools menu there is Menu bar. It is a dropdown with two values: default and 'Mnubar'. I can not spot any file with the name Mnubar in the project explorer.

I've only done a very small amount of work with menubars in Access so I cannot offer much help - however one clue I can give you is that menubars can be changed in design time so it is not necessarily in the VBA.

I think Mnubar is a menu that was created at design time. I'm not sure of which version of Access you are using but in 97 and 2000 menus are just objects that float in cyberspace that are not present on the project explorer. This is why I hardly use them as they can be very messy - as you are discovering.

It sounds like the menubar has a function on it that the MDE does not like.

Surely if the database is a file, your connection string needs the file path, not just the directory path ?

It would help to tell us how A12_BLANK fits into the picture, is it a directory name ? A file name ? Something unknown ?

The problem is that I can connect to my database but I can't get the information from the file.
The file A12_BLANK (the name of the file I want to insert in a table) is a excel file.

So, you're code is written to open a DBASE file (hint: Connection String!), but you're trying to get it to open an Excel file?
