Hello everybody!
i am a fresher in software development.I am currently working on a project called "Voice Enabled Visual Basic Protocol".This is an application with speech recognisation capabilties.It will allow user to give simple voice commands and work will be done also it will show the error messages not thru normal message boxes but through the voice messages.I know i have to use the "Speech SDK " ans "Microsoft SAPI" and the concept of "text to Speech" and "speech to text".I have relevant matter and code samples for text to speech conversion but i dont have anything regarding the speech to text conversion.so any could please provide me the proper SDLC for voice to text and some code samples.
my time is running out very fast i have to complete this project in very short span of time so plz help me out intelligent gentleman.

In *VB* ??? There are toolkits to do it in C++, but I don't think they exist in VB. They are also commercial products and they are not cheap.

I pass a SAFEARRAY through a Variant in VB.
Now i have the Variant and i don't know how to extract the SAFEARRAY from it.

I want to add in the standard help file for my VB application. Any VB6.0 built-in tools can be used for this purpose? If not, any alternative can I choose?

you can use the tool HELP WORKSHOP in Microsoft VB 6.0 tools
to create a .hlp file

Yup. If I'm not mistaken, this also allows you to create context-sensitive help per function. Pretty useful.

How could i use escape sequences in VB to write strings like this: 'a1 "b1" c1' - where ' is a substitute for " ?

In VB you could use two double quotes back-to-back...
"a1 ""b1"" c1"
...or use the actual ASCII/ANSI char itself...
"a1 " & Chr(34) & "b1" & Chr(34) & " c1"
I prefer the first method.

I have a form and I want to make it so only one instance of that form is opened. I can do this with a counter variable in my form class so when it is loaded it incremenets and if they go to file->exit it decriments. But if thye hit the X button in the upper right, the form is closed and my counter vraiable stays at one. I need a way to make it so however they close it my counter is updated accordingly.

I would suggest that you use the Singleton pattern instead of tracking counters.

the following is similar to how the vb6 upgrade wizard does it. it's not a true singleton pattern, because it allows for more than one to be created over the lifetime of the app, but is close enough in that it never allows more than one at a time.
add this code to your form, substituting "Form1" for the type of your form.

Public Shared Property SingleInstance() As Form1

How could I do this? I have maybe 16 different pictures that could be displayed in a picture box depending on certain things, and this picture can change at runtime.

hi,
I am trying to implement an array of images that will perform one function when clicked, and another when dropped onto another control.
Drag and drop works fine, but the problem is I am losing the use of Image_Click/MouseDown/MouseUp and so I can't get the code together.
I apologise in advance if this is a trivial query, but it is really beginning to annoy me!!!!

Hi,
I have a Visual Basic 6 application with an executable that is about 800KB. The application uses various active x dlls. No other application uses these dlls.
What will the advantages/disadvantages be of adding the active x dlls into the project and compiling it as one? It sure would make maintenance much easier.

I would like to know how i can play a wave file through TAPI. My requirement is to hook up to a telephone number through a Modem and when the connection is successful, the application should play a wave file.
I have succeded in connecting to a Telephone line using TAPI
Can some one help please.

It's always a confusing problem to me:when i finish a application and want to distribute it,i must create a setup and make a package for it.But how can i know which components(like DLLs,.OCX,.tlb and so on) i need and which information i shall write into registry...
In fact,i wrote a program in VB,then i use the tool "Package and Deployment" to create a package.But when i tried to setup it to test,it failed,noting me that the file "$(selfRegistryEx) " not found in my Temp folder.I dont know where's wrong
