HI,
I want like 'select a file from one location and into another location'
this functionality should be inside gridview and when user edit the gridview row he can change the location of the file and if user want to view the file he need to click on the link means the file path it's self as link.
it's possible.if it's then please provide the code or example.
Note:-This is web application.

Where are these files ? If they are on the server, then it's kind of trivial, if they are on the client, it's not possible.

If you're moving files on the server, then you just need to render some representation of the possible paths a file can live in, and on postback, use the File class to move the file. Why do you want to do this ?

i am creating an online test engine..Question papers and choices are stored in the database.when a user login for the test, a question paper vl b generated(randomly questions are selected from database).How to code that in c#.

You need to make use of Rand() method available in SQL Server. This will generate random number. I presume that each of your question having unique id. First you need to find starting and ending question number. Then start a cursor, Find random number which comes in between starting and ending question id. Inside this loop you need to select question details for the randomly generated question id and insert values into one temporary table. Finally select your temporary table.
Using cursors is not advisable practice, but if no other methods are available you can choose this.

ok..this random function will generate a random number.what will happen if there is no question with id = that random number(some times questions may deleted from the database).

You can't program the serial port in ASP.NET. .NET 2.0 has a serial port class, for windows apps.

Hi,
I have been given a task to monitor all user behaviour on our web site, this has to include capturing all values of any controls which have been changed.
I really want to create a standalone module which will do this for me. We have created our own controls - eg a IntegerTexBox that will only numbers, and a floatTextBox which will only accept decimals, and I am wondering if I could add method, or override an existing method, in these controls, to handle my task?
I am at a loss of where to start really , here's hoping someone can maybe point me in the right direction? Tried to google and found articles, just none that can point me in the right direction.
Has anyone done something similar before?

To capture the values of all controls, you indeed need to create your own control classes which capture changes in state and store them. Sounds like overkill to me.

If user is entering any dummy value before submitting the form, do you need to track that also. ? If so I think you need pretty big storage medium. Are you planning to store all these values in DB ?

Yes you need to do this to track details. Since your controls are custom written you have always a chance to write events on that. But honestly speaking, your requirement seems to be very big and tough to implement. If it is the case of tracking user visited pages, that will be easy. I found some articles here in CP which explains about tracking user visited pages.

Yes we are planning to store these changes in a DB.
I think the "powers that be" think that .net 2.0 is the best thing since sliced bread - which it prob is, but they are getting mixed up some what with win forms development, where this implementation is somewhat easy!
I did wonder if using 'health monitoring' may be the way forward?
But I'm not so sure.

Iam using textbox and command Button in HTML...when i give a URL in textBox and clicking a command button,the page should go to corrosponding URL...But i want tilte name should be constant for every page during Run time......

You can response.redirect to the URL entered. I have no idea what you're talking about re: title, but you can set the title programatically to be whatever you like, on pages you have written.

for Example
if i given www.yahoo.com in textbox...and click the commandButton..
the URL will open the Yahoo page...what i want is title name(Top most Bar not in the address bar) should not change in that yahoo URL it should remain as i gave in my program

Put one inline frame and load your yahoo page in that frame. This won't change your title. But remember, frames are browser specific. Some old browsers won't support that

In my application their is a situation where I have to Handle the Back Button of the Browser, I have to either
1.Disable the Back Button for that page or
2.Redirect the current page to LoginPage.
How can I do both the ways.
Suggest me an example.

1 - impossible
2 - stupid. If someone clicks back, why would they need to login ? If they have logged out, your app should store that they are logged out, and thus redirect, regardless of if they click back, or where they navigate to.

Put this script inside Head tag of the page.
history.forward();
eg.suppose we have to pages.1)default1.aspx
2)default2.aspx
if we apply this script to default1.aspx and we use response.redirect to goto second page(default2.aspx)we cant use back button in default2.apsx

What will happen if client has disabled javascript. ? You should not relay on javascript never. Moreover it's not a good solution too.
