Kindly help me, paging a Datalist control, i have no idea how can i do it.
Datagrid often have a paging proeprty, that when set to True automatically handles paging, but what about Datalist???
any help?

Datalist doesn't support inbuilt paging. For datalist you need to implement the custom paging.

i have login secreen that have some validation controls on it to work when i click on login button but it work also when click on cancel button i need to stop validation when click on cacel button

i found property called validation group in all validator controls
- what is that property
- used for what

you have to textbox's in webform and first box validationgroup property is validator1 and second box validationgroup property is validator2
if you add button to web form and set validationgroup property of button to validator1, then button only validate first box
if set validationgroup property of button to validator2, then button only validate second box

i use required filed validator with textbox in my web site and i put initial value 5 when i run the application i write initial value in text box (5) in text box the expression in the text property of required filed validator that appear when validation falied appear to me like "empty field"

for example: data on the page is as under

Sincerly speaking what is data from uri not viewsource  ? And what is the data given in the example ? I have never seen anything like that ? Do you mean you want to get the data given in example without any HTML tags ?

If you want to stop the page code being written after you have written your data to the page (which by its position i assume is being done with response.write? You can follow it with a response.end which will send the page to the browser without doing the rest.

I am implementing pagin in my project where I am showing around 10 recordset per page. I want that whenever I click on next page it shouldn't call the database again and again. Data fetching should be done at once. Can anybody tell me how to do this so that I can increase the performance of my database. There are 20,000 records I am getting from this query.

tou can fetch data from database and store it in xml file before using in gridview or any control, then work with xml file for paging and sorting or ...

What is the benefit of doing like this ? Assume 100 user accessing the page same time , will you create 100 XML files ?

no no no.
you can manage your xml file for all users.
your xml is simulated from database table or view.
for example your xml contains 20,000 record and you need to all records but the database view contains 2,000,000 record and you don't need to all records.
working with 20,000 records is faster than working with 2,000,000 records

What control you are using to show the results ? Is it a datagrid/gridview ? Both supports paging. You can set allowpaging=true and set the pagesize. This method for paging implementation is very easy.
But efficient way will be doing the manual paging. First you need to find the total page by totalrecords/pagesizesize. Then depending on the page number you need to fetch only 10 records(your page size) from the database for that page. So your page may look like this www.yourdomain.com/yourpaging.aspx?page=1.
