i need help, on how to make the use of the embeded export control on crytal report viewer in asp.net 2003..
my problem is everytime i click export, yes it give me a page to choose in which format but when im going to save or open, it does not show the correct content of the report...
someone pls i need your help very badly... sample codes or link sites is very highly appreciated thank you...

I have an ASP.NET database that lives online. I would really love to be able to run a local version and do "batch updates" or to synchronise them daily, but our developer says it's in the too hard basket?

What do you mean by ASP.NET database?
Database name should be something like MSSQL, MySQL or etc...

It's an online database built using asp.net technology - cannot expand on this as that's all the developer said.

Let's say you have MSSQL database which is hosted on Live Server. You also have another database in local machine.Your goal is that you wanna do synchronization or batch-update from Local Database to Live Database. You wanna know whether it's easy to achieve this goal or not.
The answer is that it's not that difficult if you have reliable and high-speed internet connection. There are some build-in features for this purpose in the most of databases. But you have to think about security issue very seriously.

I am a student and making a final project on web development, my project is on House decoration but my problem is i want my website to have its own amail id like info@housedecoration.com, so that if the company wants to send any newsletter or and reply of the request made by the user he can.
My supervisor is out of country and i need an help I am using ASP.NET and VB.NET for my project. Now plz can anyone help me in giving code that how can i implement it

So you want someone to write an SMTP server and give you the code? Wow.
See if your hosting provides email boxes, otherwise you need a server with MS Exchange, postfix, or some other SMTP server on it.

It's not about programming languages (eg: VB.NET or ASP.NET). AFAIK, you can only have that kinda Email Id when you owned this domain..
For example, I owned one domain name called "http://michaelsync.net". So, I can create any Email address like info@michaelsync.net or blabla@michaelsync.net.
So, If you are sure that you own this website "http://housedecoration", you can create the id that (info@housedecoration.com) you want.
Only thing you need to do is that you need to buy this domain. Then, you can use Google Application (http://google.com/a/) to host your email. Plus, you need to configure MX record in your domain in order to use Google Application as Email hosting..

I have writing the following login screen in asp.net which uses an stored procedure, which if the login credentials equal whats returned from the select statement it should return a 1
I am having problems getting my asp page to grab the value which is returned from the stored procedure
for some reason this code sets the return value to 6, wether its right or wrong!
here is my stored procedure code

No wonder, as your procedure isn't returning any value.
As your procedure is sending a result (using a select query), you have to use ExecuteReader or ExecutScalar instead of ExecuteNonQuery to get the result.

can we hide (set visible = false) of an item inside the datalist? Note: this item is NOT a server control like asp:label or asp:button, etc so it does not have an ID. This item is just a link that is executed on clientside.

but one thing,the id of the controls inside the gridview is different from the server controls!!!!
In the page check the id of the checkboxes with viewsource of the page!!!
Write the javascript accordingly!!!!

Tools->Internet Options->Security->LocalIntranet->Custom Level->initialize and script activeX controls not marked as safe for scripting
I need to change values in registy of Enabling and Disabling using Javascript code.

OK, if what you want to do works, then it's a huge security hole, and I hope Microsoft fixes it soon.
In other words, forget it. Perhaps your intentions are benign, but you're asking how to do something that every person trying to spread a virus via the web would want to do. I'm sure there were ways to do that in 1998, but not today.

I have search page and result page.
in search page I have drop down list that specify the value of car
like this * <20000 * between 20000 and 300000 * >300000
the selected value sent in query string .I have colum in table Name (price) type (money) that get the value from QueryString diplay the datalist in depend of it .
but give error always? unable to convert string value to ... moeny and something like that

Based on your description, I doubt you'll get any help. The error you get obviously relates to a point in the code where you try to convert a string to a numeric value. Find that code, and fix it, and you'll be done. Or, perhaps the error is in the list control, your aspx is trying to bind a numeric format, and getting a string back.
Set some breakpoints and work out what data is causing the error, then you should be able to work out how to fix it.

I'm coming across a problem while trying to read values from dynamically added text boxes. This is my method:
*Create placeholder inside of the aspx.
*Read in data from sql, creating a label and textbox for each entry.
*Add those controls to the placeholder.
That works just fine. However, I can't seem to read the values from those dynamically added textboxes. When I run in debug mode, the placeholder is empty by the time the page loads. Any advice on the matter?

I found out that it will not delete the controls inside of the placeholder, provided I DO NOT assign the controls a unique id. This functionality is... strange at best. But I guess a part of learning a solution is becoming familiar with its quarks.

I'm new to asp.net, I was a PHP programmer so I have some questions.
How I can write something like include in asp.net, also I do not know why but master Pages do not work. 
Here is the Result of Running Master page:

Master pages are not served, only aspx pages, Master pages are used as templates by the aspx pages for layout and common controls across many pages, supose you want the same navigation on every single page you would create the navigation in the master page, maybe add some logic to it and then just reference the master page from the aspx page the easiest way to do this is first create the master page, and then just right click on the master page and select the "add new content page" option from menu.
Includes is a different thing, if is logic you want you can create this logic in classes and reference them in your logic for the pages, but if what your looking is for layout I would suggest researching more on the master pages.
