You can use WMI, or you can p/invoke C APIs to do it.

Yes, noobie user, that is very common. Activex component errors like 'ActiveX Component cannot be created' are always solved by....mmmfm mmf mmmmfff

Hi, I just install vs 2005 professional edition, but during the time that I enter the name and CDKEY, i type my name with a mispell character. After I install, i check in the about dialog box of vs 2005 i found my name display incorrect.
So, my question is: are there any method to look in the registry to correct my name and display it in the about dialog box of vs 2005?

Guys,
I'm trying to use the SendKeys function to pass information to a website from VB.NET 2005 but when I do, the text I pass across is duplicated. Code is below:
<br />
AppActivate(strBrowseToThisWebpage) <br />
SendKeys.Send("1") <br />
This code never returns the same result. Sometimes it adds 1 to the texbox, sometimes 1111, sometimes 111111 etc.
Any ideas?
Alternatively, if there's another method I can use to send data to a webpage, that would be very helpful.

Yes here I am again but there is so little to find on the net about this 
I'v been able to get my vb.net user control in access now  but still have two problems:
1) when I set a property in the (access) property window and then put the form in normal view the property is reseted to the original (default) value
2) I can't seem to adress my property in VBA code
not by using usercontrol.Path = "test"
nor by useing usercontrol.properties("path") = "test"
any help on this would be greatly appriciated

Hello. I develop a web page that user will login with client certificate which at smartcard. I read a lot of pages than i understood that middleware softwares copy certicates from smartcard to User Local Store(Personel Store) to read certificates from client computers. I have such middleware but it's not free of charge, so i can not disturb this software to all clients which will login my page with smartcard. So i want to develop an application which copies certificates from smartcard to user local store. I use GemSafe cards and Gemplus Twin Reader. Also i use GemSafe Libraries as middleware software.
I developed some applications with smartcard so PC/SC interface and other special commands are not stranger for me. I just don't know where can i start? You have some ideas? I can use "capicom" for this project? I use VB 6.0 but i also know VB.Net a little.

Hi all!
I have a Search application that has VB.net as the frontend and MS Access as the backend. I need to execute a query with a like clause
"Select * from employee where emp_name like '*a*'
This returns results results if i execute it directly at the db side; but returns no results on executing it through the application.
(does not return any results if i use a wildcard charecter)
Can anyone help me with this??

Assuming you are using ADO or ADO.NET then the wildcard parameters are as follows
% = Match any string
_ = Match any character

moral of the story is eventhough u are using an Access db, use standard wildcards used in sql.

in addition I'd like to add (because I just had a simaler program where I encounterd this problem) that the wildcard * (or %) will not return 'null' values. (I haven't found any wildcard that will in access) so you will need to make shure that there is always a value in you're db fields otherwise I'm afraid you search will not work perfectly

You would need to store the database name and user/password info somewhere locally with your user (an .ini file, registry, access database etc) and read the information from there into a variable, then use the variable in your vb.net code to instantiate the database connection.
