1 - try intelligent subjects. Every post here is about VB
2 - VB6 or VB.NET ? Vb6 is a dead language, but some people still use it. If you don't specify, you will get VB.NET replies.
3 - is google broken where you live ? there's an entire site out there dedicated to VB and MySQL, and tons of info, on this site, MSDN, and many others, on SQL Server and VB.

Hey all:
I want to deployed my project by creating a setup file which will create shotcuts icons of the project on destop. In addition, the application also should be added in All programs file of start Menu of windows.
I was able to create setup files with out shorcuts on destop.
Can you help how to get shotcuts on destop and start menu of window??
Thanks

What are you using to create the setup ? I actually include the shortcut files in my setup program, but, I don't let the user set a location.

Hey:
I'm using SetUP project template of Setup and Deployment Project. Even I do include the shortcut files in my setup. It does show. But my problem was the shortcut icons just open the destop. I want the short cut to open my .exe file of my application instead. Like when we click word icon, it opens word file.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Why does the icon point to the desktop ? If you mean that you have a document file which you want to open your program with that document, you need to set that up in the registry.

i want to write a user control that atc the same as panel and keep others controls at himself.
is it possible in vb.net
thx
|
|
|
|
|
All controls can contain other controls, but I assume you want design time support like the panel has. Do do that add this line of code just before the class declaration.
<Designer("System.Windows.Forms.Design.ParentControlDesigner,System.Design", GetType(IDesigner))> _
|
|
|
|
|
You can also use inherits system.windows.controls.panel .

Are you checking username/password of an account on SQL Server 2005 or do you have a user table? Please elaborate a bit more what you are looking to do...

So, respond on the thread, send him an email through the site if he needs your email address. Then he will be sure to get it. Who knows if he even happens to be reading the site when you post this ?

Hi all:
I want to execute .exe(process) when some events is fired from my application. I was able to execute my process by using my following code.
Dim program As New Process<br />
program.StartInfo.FileName = "SH_EVP2.exe"<br />
program.Start()
My Problem is I need to pass filename as paramters to .exe (process)when I execute it. can you advise me how shall I do this?
|
|
|
|
|
Process.Start("SH_EVP2.exe " + yourParamString)
will do it.

Hey:
I did the exactly same that you have provided above. Unfortunately, I got some execptional handling error. Then, later I tried:
Process.Start("SH_EVP2.exe ", "input1.sa")
But still it is not taking input1.sa as a file parameter.
Help please.

Christian's code should do the trick, what is the exception you were getting?

The exact code that I wrote as per Christian's suggestion is:
Dim yourParamString As String = "input1.sa"<br />
Process.Start("SH_EVP2.exe" + yourParamString)
The exception that I got while executing the application is:
The system can't find the file specified.
However I have input1.sa in the bin directory. I felt "SH_EVP2.exe" + yourParamString string got concanated and come up with new file name. Thus I'try the other one that I've posted above.
Thanks for your help
