I don't like doing this, but have you tried sticking a Application.DoEvents() at the beginning of your "long running" code?
Normally, I'd be running all the code to setup the controls of every tab of a tabcontrol before I let the user see it. You treat all the tabs of a tabcontrol as a single control and not on a per-tab basis.
For instance, an options dialog with multiple tab pages gets and sets the values for all the controls on every tab page when the dialog is shown, NOT when each tab is shown. When the changes are done being made, the dialog writes all the values, on every tab page, back to persisted storgage and applies all the changes to running code when the dialog is dismissed. It doesn't do this when changing tab pages.

Controls are created prior to running the code. I'm just wondering if there is a way to actually check if a control is visible to the user. Just using control.visible() will result in True but that doesn't mean the user already sees the control.

Hey:
I want to pass two dimensional array in my function and return one dimensional array. My function will take two parameters:
1. two dimensional array
2. Row number.
Once I call this function, it should return me one dimensional array i.e the row.
For example,
Dim data(2,2) as Double<br />
Dim row as integer<br />
Dim tempRow(2) as Double<br />
<br />
row=0<br />
tempRow=returnRow(data,row)
When I called this function, it should return me the first row since row is 0
Can you please me how to pass the multidimensional array and return one-dimensional array back.

You can accept a multidimensional array like this.
Private Function GetRow(ByVal data(,) As Double, ByVal row As Integer) As Double()
End Function
The function also returns a 1-dimensnial array. All the function needs now is to get the values from the array and return them as 1-dimensional array.

The idea of this site is generally that you try to fix your problem and ask when you're stuck, not that you ask people to email you code.
It's also not common for people to ask VBA questions, you're welcome to do so, but I'd suspect there would be other sites more suited to VBA.

By the way, I would like to comment out by saying to me - asking people to email the code. As you read my email, this is my first time to do programming in macro. And as you can see concept is that complicated. The concept is there but the "How to do it" is a big question for me.
And you know Christ it is not that complicated, it is more easier than what I thought.

Hi,
What I want is to list all the folders in another folder
ie GameFolder >
Folder 1
Folder 2
Folder 3
I don't know where on the users computer the GameFolder will be placed so I need the program to go and find it and then list all the names of the folders that are inside.

You have a problem. Not only can the user change the name of the GameFolder, they can also change the name of it. So, what are you going to use to positively identify the REAL GameFolder?
Are you going to look for certain .EXE's or .DLL's?? Do these games write some consistent values to the registry, in consistant places?
You could look for folder names, starting at the root, but this can be a very time consuming process. You would normall start your search using the default names of folders on their default home paths, like under the Program Files folder.

Hi!
I have two files, "./main.exe" and "./d/code.dll" using a third file, common.dll, as a reference. VS creates two of this latest in the two directories. How can I make main.exe to use the "./d/common.dll" instead of "./common.dll"? All 3 projects are VB.NET2005

Remove the references, recreate a new reference to the dll, compile, voila. That should take of it.
I think I'm going to call my next project "Chuck Norris". It's a sure way to guarantee it's unbreakable.

no, it doesn't. both project's copy local property stays true by default, so it copies itself, and if I remove either dll, the whole thing collapses. If I turn one of the copy local to false, it's all the same.
Let me rephrase this... Let's take an exe project, and an already compiled "common.dll". I create a reference in the project for the dll file. What else do I have to set in the project's properties to force it to look for that given dll at "./dir/common.dll" instead of "./common.dll", relative to the exe file's location?

The code you've got will work about as fast as anything else. The problem is the disk I/O speed and the number of nodes you have to add to the treeview. There's really nothing you can do to speed this up, unless you populate the entire tree on your apps startup. This will greatly increase your apps startup time and limit its flexibility to adapting to changes in the file system during the execution of your app.
