Actually I have a dataset having 1 table(tblScreens) which in turn have 3 columns.
Now I want to store the screen information in to a List<screen> (*Screen is a class having properties) so that the members can be retrived from the UI.

Create a list of your Screen class:
List<Screen> list = new List<Screen>();
Loop through the rows and create Screen objects and add to the list:
foreach (DataRow row in someDataSet.Tables["tblScreens"].Rows) {
Screen screen = new Screen(row["someField"], row["someOtherField"], row["anotherField"]);
list.Add(screen);
}

Hi ur code is almost optimum but at the last moment i.e on the row
Screen screen =new screen(row[],.....)
*it gives an error showing Error No overload for method 'Screen' takes '3' arguments

I have no idea how your Screen class is built. I assumed that if you have a class with three properties, you would have a constructor with three arguments to create an instance of the class and populate the properties, i.e something like:

public Screen(property1, property2, property3) {

_property2 = property2;
_property3 = property3;
}
public int Property1 { get { return _proeprty1; } }

I am getting error at this line

A dataset is an object :P
I assume you mean how do you extract a single object out of a dataset?
DataSets are made up of DataTables. DataTables are made up of DataRows, and also contain inforamtion about the columns that make up the rows.
To pull out the data you need you have to know the structure of the tables and rows. Knowing that you can go in and pull out the required objects.
The best way to learn would be to write some code to make your own dataset using your own schema and then play with it. Pull out the data, update the data and generally get a feel for how it all works.

Hi all
I am working on a project for home automation using insteon devices and c# 2005. I have also installed the smarthome device manager [SDM]. My program is sending commands using SendText method of SDM3. I want to create a taimer for a lamp though i have writen a lot of commands but they does not work

I don't know anything about insteon, but one thing I can tell you is that saying "i have writen a lot of commands but they does not work" does not give anybody enough information in order to help you. What have you tried? What exacly didn't work? What were the error messages or other manifestations of the failure to work?

Hi All,
Scenario : I have a webservice which takes in data from Form, create xml with data, send to CGI/.exe to process and wait for response results. (The reason it's a CGI/.exe is because i'm bolting into a legacy system which cannot be changed at this time.
Problem : Data at the root level is invalid Line 1 position 1.
Occurrence :
If i call the web service on [10.0.0.xxx] network the service runs correctly then passes back the results schema accordingly. As soon as I try to run this through the service domain name [http://name.domain.co.uk/MyService.asmx] i get the above error.
The service is using a Http 'POST' method, and I have checked the xml to see if well formatted. It is. Complete with processingInstruction. Here is a code snippet of the send method

I am using asp.net, C# and Oracle database. In order to insert the data into different table at the same time. I am using transaction. However, someone tell me that transaction usually used for SQL server. isn't it? Can I use transaction in Oracle database?

The transaction would be part of your data provider. For SQL Server this would be classes in the System.Data.SqlClient namespace. Oracle would have its own data provider classes with its own transaction object. So, so long as you are using the correct transaction type there should be no problems.

Your friend is a moron. Transactions are a feature of most database servers, I believe they have support in standard SQL. Certainly, Oracle supports them.

To be fair - Oracle is more compliant with the Ansi standards than MySQL.

MySQL is crap. They didn't have stored procs a year or so ago.
