Your question is not that clear but if I have understood you correctly, you should in the KeyPress event of the datagrid, check if the pressed key is enter (ascii code 13) and then use the value of the selected cell of datagrid to do whatever you like!

Hi, I have developer an application to import data from the other database file into my database application. I designed a form with a progress bar to let the user know the progress of importing the data. I set the form border style to none mean the form will have no title bar. Everything working fine but one thing that I need to change is when I hide the form title bar, the form will become flat. What I need is making the form 3d (with border) but no title bar. We can see when we install printer drive, we usally found a 3d form with no title bar display the progress of driver installation. This is what I need. I used vb.net 2005 standard edition and if anyone know how to do that please let me know.

You could fake it by putting a panel control on your form, set its BorderStyle property to 3d, and dock it in the middle of the form. Then set the form's FormBorderStyle property to none.

I was wondering if it is possible to detect any application such as Microsoft Word or Paint when it is trying to start up. I want the program I'm putting together to detect any program not just a specific one. I would greatly appreciate any help here, because I have been searching the internet for weeks with no results to show for it. I've posted here as a last resort to see if there is something I may not know about or may have overlooked. I just need to know how this can be done, if it can be done, I don't need to be shown, but thanks anyway. If I could get a reply that would be great as this is for my senior project that will be due near the end of the 2007-2008 school year.
I thank anyone who reads this in advance for at least taking the time to read this in the event they could possibly help.

As far as I know it is more or less possible, meaning that you can detect whether a certain application is running. If you just check frequently enough it will work just as well as catching its starting event. (I am not saying that it isn't possible to catch that somehow, but I just don't know how)
You are going to have to look into checking for processes and their windows' handles, class names and such.

Ok, I figured this one out myself with a little more digging. Processes can be detected through a ManagementEventWatcher. I hope this will help anyone with the same problem...

I recommend buying a book on VB.NET and working through it. To create a new form, just create an instance of it's class, and call ShowDialog() on it. But, as I said, if you didn't know this, you'd probably benefit from buying a book.

i have a string format "18:15:15"(fetch from a dataset)
i want to convert it to time format.. but i cant... ive tried to concatinate the time to "1/1/1900 "&"18:15:15", and convert it using the ff:
assume that datevalue = "1/1/1900 "&"18:15:15"
Convert.ToDateTime(datevalue)
ctype(datevalue,datetime)
date.parse(datevalue)
but still im recieving an error message :
String is not recognized as a valid datetime... please help me...
i am using vb.net 2002 and im fetching data from mssql 200

Why are you storing the times as strings in SQL Server ? Seems to me that you can just call the split method on your string, and use int.tryparse to get out the hours, minutes, seconds.

date.parse("18:15:15") worked for me but I'm using VS 2005. If that really won't work you might try Date.ParseExact if that's available to you. It would look something like this.
Dim t As Date = Date.ParseExact("18:15:15", "HH:mm:ss", Globalization.DateTimeFormatInfo.InvariantInfo)If that fails you could fall back to the split function which has already been suggested.

What error are you getting?
What line throws the error?
(Assuming the problem is with ParseExact) Have you tried stepping into your code and verified dtgCustomSched.Item(row,2) is returning what you expect? Also note that the format of the string must be like this "03:22:12" NOT "3:22:12". If you don't use leading zero's then you need to change the formating string. "H:m:s" will allow for optional leading zeros.

Try replacing dtgCustomSched.Item(row,2) with a literal string that represents a time. Something like "12:29:01". That should certainly work. Once you've verified that try using a string variable to hold the date instead of using dtgCustomSched.Item(row,2) directly. So simply assign that value to a string and then in the ParseExact line use the string variable instead. Worth a shot I guess. If that doesn't work then go back and double and triple check the string your getting from the DB. Are you sure there aren't any other characters in it that you don't want. A space? Some sort of linefeed character or something silly like that? Basically if the string isn't 8 characters long then something isn't right. In fact try using the string.length function to verify it's length.
If you still can't get it I'd try another method. Do as christian said and use the string.split function to parse the numbers out of the string. Once you've got the individual hours, minutes, and seconds you should be able to pass those to the constructor of the date class to create your date object.
