Hi all

i am sorry if i am ignorant , actually i am a bit newer to asp.net.

i am using asp.net 1.1, and using data grid controll, i have bouned this grid to a a data source, i want to make selection in this grid , but this grid doest not allow me selecting rows, how to enable selection in data grid control in asp.net 1.1 actually this is the question..

Do you want to use checkbox for the selection of rows in the datagrid? If so then you have to use template column of the datagrid and then place the checkbox control in the template column.

i just want to make selection by mouse,

when a user selects a row by mouse so i will show
some values related to this records on some other controlls on
the same page where the grid is ,,,,

What does it mean?
Do you want to show some data on mouseover event i.e. whenever a user is putting the mouse to a item some tooltip has to be displayed?

WHEN A USER WILL SELECT A PARTICULAR ROW , THAN THE ROWS SELECTEDINDEX CHANGE EVENT WILL BE FIRED AND I WILL PUT MY CODE INTO THAT EVENT .

but still i have the problem,
i have a button column in my data grid which i am using
for update,,,

but when i press it the item commande event is fired , ok

but i want to make changes into my datagrid and than after clicking in update button
i want to handel update operation in the item commande event handler ,, but my data grid seems to be read only, i cant make changes directly into grid , why is that ?

why i cannot select rows without the select button , ? is there any solution?

You can't use 'text-decoration' as a variable name as the dash is seen as a minus. Instead use:

style.textDecoration

The problem is that the excel file has some fields that are optional. If the some of the fields in the first data line are empty, then the remaining data in that column is lost. All data are numbers. I think it has something to do with formatting. Maybe the drivers need data in the first column to determine datatype. I found somewhere that putting IMEX=1 in the connection string will make it not restrict datatype. I did not work.

If the first column has all fields filled in, then the remaining data is fine. Please help. Thanks in advance!

Hi all,

I hope I have put this question in the right place – if not Sorry!

I am in the process of making a website and have decide to make it a members only site and to charge a small monthly fee to join.
However I don’t want users to have to input their details each month. So is there service that will take a monthly reoccurring fee ?

I was reading up on EPDQ but it all sounds a bit big business for me ! I only want to charge a tiny amount (possibly £1 per month per member) but just need a simple way to make this charge each month ! I don’t want to be responsible for the transaction myself – the security problems with customer details would scare me.

Any ideas ???

You'll probably not find many payment processors setup for such small fees. You would be better off grouping payments together so people have to buy 3 months, but each month is only £1. PayPal have a recurring membership and is likely to be the easiest option.

For £1 a month it will hardly be worth your while, any online payment service will probably charge you around 50p just for the transaction, you'd be better off billing yearly. You can do subscription based payments with PayPal (I've payed my web hosting like this for a few years now), I think its pretty simple to do as long as you don't mind using the PayPal payments screens.
