enter to the project properties by clicking right click on the project at the "Solution Explorer" in visual studio 2005 and then enter to publish and click the "Publish Now" or "Publish Wizard..." command!

In web. config:

<connectionStrings><br />
    <add name="ConnectionName" connectionString="blah blah blah"/><br />
 </connectionStrings>

In the app:

<br />
ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionName"].ConnectionString;<br />

I'm using MySQL for adb at the moment so i removed the connection string stuff

ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings will only help in reading the text in ConnectionStrings section.
To read in appsettings use ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings.Get("Name")

Wouldn't this work for you?

string cs = Form1.Properties.Settings.Default["connectionstring"];

Where you replace Form1 with the namespace of your application.

I am doing a windows application.. I was working well with it and suddenly a form shows error...

i am using stored procedures to insert and retrieve data ...and it seems that the stored procedure is correct..

in C#.net code

command.ExecuteNonQuery();

the error handler points to this and puts error

"Failed to convert parameter value from a String to a Int32."

sajan ss, This error says that you mistakenly provide String instead of int to stored procedure.

Could you give us more code for analyze.
I want to get the listing where you are filling the stored procedure parameters and signature of calling stored procedure.

There's not much you're showing from your code, but if you're sure the error is fired exactly from that line, then double check your stored procedure parameter values and make sure the types are matching.

About Ticker in C# Windows Application ,how to solve this problem?

Hello Friends,
I hope your are help to me
I have using VS2005 and XP prof
I developing Ticker module
When i open the Ticker it's display top of the screen
Now I open any window(mycomputer,any folder like that)opened but that window close button inside the Ticker,So I couldn't close that window.

I want when i open Ticker at the time, if any window open all are open bellow the Ticker
What i do and how to solve this problem?
plz help to me

if u r thinking of something like a splash screen which shuld be available always on top of all the application, set the splashscreen form property- TopMost to true

The installer IS the uninstaller. Your program will get added to the add/remove programs list when you install it

Yah i know that my program will get added to the add/remove programs list when i install it. But i dont want to uninstall it from control panel. I want to uninstall it from start menu.

Just add a shortcut of the uninstaller to the right folder
Drive:\Documents and Settings\YourUser\Start Menu\Programs\YourAppFolder\Uninstall.exe //for a specific user "usually current by matching the current user System.Environment.UserName with the special folder"
or:
Drive:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\YourAppFolder\Uninstall.exe //for all users

ps. Of course you'll have to check your folders locations using System.Environment.SpecialFolder.ProgramFiles

I want to make Uninstall.exe using Visual studio.You are saying to add me the shortcut of Uninstaller. But i dont have Uninstaller.exe. Got it ???

All you have to do is add ashortcut with the command line to invoke msiexec</code. with the <code>/x option and the correct .MSI file name OR Product Code.

msiexec /x filename.msi

msiexec /x productcode

Did you supply the FULL path to the .MSI file? A better option would be to use the Product code instead.

confused arabic when reading from excel-file

I have an excel-table wich i use for a translation project. left side english right side the language that needs to be translated. I wrote a program that parses this table and will merge it with the C# resx files. in chinese it works very well but in arabic i fell into some problems.

I can see this text in the excel table:
{النتيجة الإجمالية - {0

If I convert the text, I finally get something like that (there is something twisted):
النتيجة الإجمالية - {0}

By the way, the same thing happends if you copy the cell from excel and paste it into the notepad.

I tried to convert the string by using system.text.encoding... but didn't get far.
Any suggestions or hints how to handle this problem?

Hey Snow Flake!
Encoding has nothing to do with it in that case, just try to set the Right to left and Right to left layout properties of the destination control to true, it should work fine then.
