how can i get the day name (sunday or monday or ..... etc) of the given date like 03/05/2007 ??
i want to know the day name of this date or any date in this format

System.Globalization.DateTimeFormatInfo.CurrentInfo.GetDayName(DateTime.Now.DayOfWeek);

... will give you the culture specific name of the current date.

Yes, but I assumed his requirement was to find the name, not parse a date, and at least gave him credit for being able to apply the example to any date.

Hey all,

I wanted to get some recommendations for merchant account/gateway/shopping cart solutions for a Canadian based web store.

The store is pretty typical: <100 products, physical merchandise (hats, tshirts, toys, etc.), currently considering both manual and real time transaction processing.

I'd prefer the technology solution to be ASP.NET and C#.

Has anyone implemented a similar solution and would recommend their choice of vendor?

Exporting to excel, in french

Currently I have a piece of code that uses the following method to dump a dataGrid table into an excel file, it basically takes the generated html code (i.e. the table, th, td and tr tags) of a dataGrid and send it to context.response.write, which can then be saved as an Excel readable format. (web format in excel)

however, recently my task is to export a dataGrid with french characters in it. When they are exported to the file and read by excel, the french characters shows up as jubbrish.

I'm sure i can't be the only person experiencing problems with sending email within a corporate environment but I can't find any reference to my problems anywhere.

I've got an asp.net app running on a machine within our dev department. Because it's not a production server it has a restrictive policy applied to it.

If i log in as me and run CDO code from an exe it's all good I can send email via our company exchange server. If I try to get a service to send the email it won't send. ASP runs in a local machine account which has no exchange access and there is a firewall on the machine that stops port 25 outbound except for outlook and an exe name that i have got IS to permit.

If required i have my own colo server that runs hMailServer and I can set up a new account with username and password etc to send.

Does anyone have a neat solution to this problem? I'm sure i'm not the only person who has run into these issues.

New to ASP, Can It work to view live streaming data?

I have an app with a socket connection, (tcplistener) than sends data every sec ex "0,34;1,65;2,564;...". I want to connect to it and view the data live over the net.. Will an ASP page work for this application? any ideas on where to get started? THANKS SO MUCH!!!

ASP isn't great for that kind of application as the browser tends to pull data down from the server rather than the server pushing it out.

I'd be tempted to use winforms and a TCP socket connection. You can then host your client app on a webserver if you need to be able to get at it from anywhere. Alternatively yo might prefer something like java web start although you might find that is something of a dirty word around here.

I used to have a javascript snip for this feature but I had lost it some how. Anyway, does anybody have this script to share? I am talking about the similar collapse and expand feature used in the articles in the code project website.

I need to display some information from a text file. The information being called in is between a lead in and lead out in the log. Here is an example of what the log file looks like.

As an example I want to display just the INFO for receipt 4567 and not the <RECEIPT> lines or the <+++++> lines.
I have been playing with the readfile.asp page and it will read the entire file and display it now I just need to limit that to what is between the receipt lines.

Any help will be appreciated.

You can use a regular expression (with the RegEx class) to match the tags. Use a pattern like "<receipt>4567([\w\W]*?)" to get the info.

I am trying to upload one asp.net project on some other web server but it is giving me error,Server Error in '/ambertex.in' Application.

Hi Guyz,

I have a DataTable having 10 rows.
ID, FirstName & LastName are the Columns.
I did filtering using DataView.RowFilter=FirstName

The problem is...., I want to view all the records which comes below the resultant Row after filtering. (If the resultand Row after filtering is 4th in DataView, I want Rows from 4 to 10)

Guyz.., any solutions plz

Hi,

Create and instance of System.Web.Mail.MailMessage class.
Set its BodyFormat = System.Web.Mail.MailFormat.Html.

Put "<a href='locaition'>link</a>" in its body.

and use send method to send it to the destination.

i have a page for image upload and text boxes to along the page using the validator to validate the textboxes.

and want to open the my pop window (say successully done - my own page not the ok dialog box). when the image upload successfully.

once the user will click ok we need to redirect the parent page another.

Any help will really appreciate

thank for response,

but first problem is that when we click on the button poup window is appear even the textboxes are blank even i am using the required field validator.
once the popup open the then the validator message also appear.

i want validate the textboxes if valid then popup should open

Hi,

You should do this validation in javascript before opening the popup.

var val1 = document.getElementById("textbox1").value;
var val2 = document.getElementById("textbox2").value;

if(val1 != null && val2 != null)
{
window.Open();
}

Dont copy and paste my code coz it may have spelling mistakes.
