Hi All,
I have an ajax page, In which When I select some thing from dropdown list the other dropdown list is filled acording to that selected item. Everything is ok but a lattle problem is that the other dropdown list is not filled. Although I m getting the Data. I m adding values to that dropdown list like this , Pls check it what is the problem in that. How should I add to that dropdown list.

I have absolutely no idea what that function does. It appears to iterate through an array? but it does exactly the same thing on every iteration?

First of all, don't call getElementById over and over. Secondly, when you do call it, check that it doesn't return null before you try to use the value.
Setting the value property over and over isn't going to add items to a list, obviously. There's tons of info on the web on this, this looks like a good resource, and it's he first hit I got with a google search:

I have created a custom DropDownList in an attempt to extend the existing System.Web.UI.DropDownList in ASP.NET. In the implementation I have had to override Render and RenderContents while using some JavaScript to define the control behaviour. Everything is fine about the control and it renders properly on a 'normal' asp page until I take it to a page that uses a masterpage. Then it becomes distorted with the pulldown appearing some distance away from the textarea. Where should I start looking. The control's javascript or the masterpage.

I'd probably have a look at the source of the page once rendered, typically when using a master page and assumingly Content Place Holder(s), dynamic element ID's have a way of changing.
e.g. Your control might have been cmbStates in your (solo) aspx page, but once added to a master page, that very same control might now be ctl100_cmbStates or something similar.
So, if you were relying on JS to interact with the controls ID, it might have changed. I would certainly start there first.
Also make sure if you are using CSS sheets, that it is properly referenced and defined properly.

Thanks alot. I had forgotten that since my masterpage made provision for a content panel and an index panel, I needed to do to some adjustment to the position of the control inorder to position it correctly on the page relative to other controls on the page. Your idea was an eyeopener

Shouldn't it be:
ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["your_con_string"].ToString()
Assuming this is for 2.0 and you've added the proper imports/using statement.
e.g. (C#) using System.Configuration;
(VB) Imports System.Configuration

I am having a problem connecting to a MS SQL server on my web host due to a firewall here at work. I am able to get it to work at home and it works once I send it to the website, but I can’t test it in my development environment at work. My question is, if I use a local database in the APP_DATA directory, does this use a lot more bandwidth than connecting to a MS SQL server. I am concerned that each time someone would use this database, it would have to download a copy to their PC and then run the query. Can someone explain how this works? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
