I have a datagridview with a checkbox column. I want to force only one row to be checked at a time. So if one box in the column gets checked the others get unchecked. I'm sure there's a simple solution. Does anyone know it?

Check boxes imply multiple items may be checked at the same time. RadioButtons are used for single options. Does a radiobutton work with the datagridview? If it does, then from a user standpoint I would recommend radiobuttons. Plus it may mean you don't need to worry about additional coding. If it doesn't you could probably just loop through each column when an box is checked and make sure the rest are unchecked.

TwoFaced has given you the right solution in the end.retrieve the id of the checkbox which is being clicked....Just Loop through your datagridview....check if any other checkbox is checked or not....if checked make its CheckedState to false other than the checkbox which is clicked...

I've got a clickonce deployed windows form project that is only available online (so it doesn't leave behind a shortcut) and it requires the .Net framework 2.0. I'm integrating the setup and launch of this program into web pages my company already has so I am not using the publish.htm that clickonce automatically creates. The program relies on being passed parameters which it collects through the query string of the URL used to launch it. At least...that is how it works when I reference the .application file for the program. Since I need to make sure the user has the .Net framework 2.0 installed I need to give them access to the setup.exe file for the program, so they can install the framework via the bootstrapper. However, after the setup runs it kicks off the program. Only when it launches the program from here it doesn't have the parms from the URL, since I can't pass the them while referencing the setup.exe like this:
http://mysite/setup.exe?parm1=abc&parm2=def
So how can I pass them? Is it possible? Or is there a way to get the setup to only install and not run the program?

Hi!
I have embeded some strings and images in my application's resource file. I am able to call and use them but what I want is to update one of the string in resource file. For example I have my.resources.Time field in the resource file how can I cange its value in runtime and put it back to resource file?

You can't do that. Resources are compiled into the .EXE, not left as a seperate file. Resource, once compiled into the .EXE, are ReadOnly, you can't modify them without extraordinary effort.

You can't, resources are read-only, unless you recompile the application but do you want to ship the source code and do you want to have to recompile it everytime it runs?

If you need to change things after building put them into a .config file.

I am building a custom input interface for an Access Database using VB 2005 Express Edition. To install the program on the company computer i have to login as the network administrator and install the program. Then when i logon as a regular user and try to use the program its not there. If i try to install it again from that user, but USING the Admin user for authentication the program installs and runs but still it runs from the Admin users name and doesnt actually show its self installed in control panel of start menu from the regular users view. HELP!

That depends on what you used to build the installation for the application. Usually, there is an option to install for "Everyone" or just the current user.
When you do a RunAs install, it actually runs as if you were logged in as the Admin, using the Admins user profile, not yours.

I am assuming since I am using the Express Edition that i dont have that option, either that or i just can't find it. I am using the .Net clickOnce deployment. Are there any other deployment programs that have more options and are more reliable and that you would recommend?

Well, ClickOnce doesn't have that option, installing for the current user only. You can read more on ClickOnce here[^]. Pay particular attention to the security sections.

Hello!
I got a major problem here. My function opens a database and reads 65000 records. While it does it, I want to show main form. It is hanging until all the records get loaded and then showing the form. I used Application.Doevents statment inside the loop but nothing has changed at all.
Question: How can I show form and then read from database? I placed the db function under Sub New procedure, Form.Activate, and Form.load procedure but it didn't work out? I am sure there is a way but what is it?

Ship reading the records off to a seperate thread. You UI thread will be free to show and update itself then.
But, why are you reading 65,000 records from a database? What's this for?

I am loding the words from different dictionery. I had decided not use of a seperate thread for this purpose because I thought it would be possible to show form first and then load the database but it didn't work out that way. I think you are right I better consider in using a seperate thread.

just wondering if there's any way I can get the currectly active URL of IE using the process class or WMI?...
Basically I want to be able to remotely shut down IE if a certain webpage is hit.
I can get PID and name easily with the process class to put them in a datagrid, and then kill the process with WMI, just wondering how much more is possible.

No, you can't get it using WMI. You have to do this using the Shell.Application object. You can then get the open browser windows from the Windows property, then iterate through those to get the LocationName and LocationURL's.
You'll need code running on each of the client machines you're monitoring because I don't think you can create the Shell.Application object on a remote server.
The other problem is that this will only work for IE browser windows. It will NOT work if the user is using any other web browser.

Rats... was hoping to get away without having anything running on every machine... idea was to just have an old system sitting in my server room keeping an eye on things when required... I suppose it would be perfectly feasable for me to just have the client side bit of code as a very small app that can be run as a process (it won't have a GUI) when required on each client machine.
programs already doing its main job which is killing MSN on certain computers when people take advantage of my relaxed nature so I don't have to block it for everyone. I could set up the firewall to block certain sites like myspace.com but again, I don't want to kill it for everyone, only the people who are abusing it, and as I'm using IPCop its a bit of a pain to turn it on and off.
