i hav created an asp.net application using c#.It works fine in IE 6.0 but wen i open in mozilla browser it asks for a username and password why is it so?
wat to do 2 overcum it?

I have a dropdownlist server control on my page. Thers a text box on the page to which is disabled. The dropdownlist contains four options - Apple, Orange, Lemons, Grapes. I've programmatically set the the DropDownList in such as way that then Lemons are selected. the text box gets enabled else it gets disabled. Everytime i select Lemons, a post occurs. I order to avoid this im planning on using JavaScript. How do i add JavaScript. I realllly new to JavaScript so if you give me a simple code snippet, it'll give me a head start. What event would i have to write for DropDownList - OnChange?

I have two questions and i hope this wonderful world of forum will help me ASAP
a) I need some sample source code (preferably vb.net) for callback functionality of framework 2.0. E.g. Country-state dropdown list....
b) I would like to know all of your views/experiences on server controls...MS has released more than 100 server controls like DataGridView, FormView, DataListView etc....
Should we use this, i mean is it advisable to use for a site where load is too high. I always heard from different faces that all these controls are very heavy and we should avoid as much as possible. For our last project, we used data repeater control and build all the functionality like paging etc...it was painful…….
Can't we go for datagrid type of controls which provide lot of in built functionality....
Please suggest and keep in mind i am talking only for medium/bulky web sites...

Hell Everybody!
I have set an error page in web.config file. this page fires a mail embedding last error (Server.getLastError()) and also url of error page. It is working fine but without error message. Can anyone suggest the better solution.

hi all
In Asp.net 2.0 i am developing i look some fantatic in UserControl
When i develop a application "Dynamically Loading User Control on a Webform"
i load usercontrols on function Load so All Event on UserControl run very good but i load usercontrols on function ___dopostback(On CodeBehide "Ex: i have a linkbutton when click it and it will load other UserControl" ) so Event on UserControl not run(Ex: in UserControl have button when click that button Respons.write("demo"); but it not run ) and that usercontrol immediate hide??
I dont userstand ??????

Hi,
How can I get the URL full path of a file (eg image file) that is in the form: http://MyHost/MySite/Images/Product.jpg. I use ResolveURL function but it return a path without host name.

You can get the host name from the Request.Url.Host property.

hi, my web.config file is like this

Now if i use the <location > element as bove i get this error
It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.
However if i remove the location element my app works fine
Any help is appreciated,

because you are crossing the app boundries....Location node is normally used to cross the boundries for example
you want to distinguish roles/authorization on basis of ordinary and admin user.
You can also replicate the same error
a) if you keep two confifg file in your project AND
b) remove location node details....

I created the following SQL script to check if a record exists:
IF (EXISTS (SELECT LevelName FROM dbo.by27_Levels WHERE LOWER(@LevelName) = LOWER(LevelName)))
Return (1)
ELSE
Return (0)
And I also found in a web page another solution:
IF EXISTS(SELECT 1 FROM TABLENAME WHERE LevelName=@LevelName)
SELECT 1
ELSE
SELECT 0
- Which approach should I use?
- Why "SELECT 1 FROM"?
- And when should I use SELECT or RETURN?
All I need is to know if the record exists ... nothing else.
I will use this procedure on an ASP.NET 2.0 / C# web site.
I am not sure if this important but anyway ...

Second approach; Select 1 is used to minimize the processor workload (there is no need to return the fields)
you could also consider:
SELECT count(*) AS Results FROM dbo.by27_Levels WHERE LOWER(@LevelName) = LOWER(LevelName)

now i enter some integer value in the textboxes
now my query is
empid,date is already entered in database.i dont want enter same empid,date
how can i compared parricular empid,date exist or not.if that empid,date exists it will show error

I have a datagrid, which holds item name, item price, and its image(all from SQL Server database), what I need is when the user clicks on the image, I need the (id) for the item to be carried to the new page where I want to show more details about the item (expiry date, ...)
