AJAX is just a small subset of the web development umbrella. Now even thought there are dedicated forums for other sub classes of web development it does not mean that every strand needs one, only the most important (Like PHP). You will find that people in the Web development forum can answer any of your Ajax questions?

Hi,
I have a java background and I am trying to build a windows application using .NET as it has better looking graphics! I want my application to have a very similar look and feel to the new "Windows Live Messenger" client. Is there an API or SDK/Toolkit that I can use to get started which can save me the time to build something like that? Can someone please suggest to me what exactly I need so I don't waste time "re-inventing the wheel" and re-use most of the code that has already been written by .NET coders.
I think I need a copy of Visual Studio to do my .NET development in? I need my application to be exactly like MSN messenger but just on a single desktop, so no web services or ASP.NET etc...just pure Windows Desktop App!
Any help, pointers or directions would be more than appreciated!

If you are creating a personal project you might want to start with looking at the microsoft express editions of Visual Studio. The last time I checked they were free and give you everything you need. I know there are restrictions for applications that are turning a profit,but these are great tools for learning Visual Studio languages. Also, they have some pretty good learning tutorials accompanying the express site.
If you come from a Java background I would definitely look at C# as it resembles java very closely. As you work with it you will get a better feeling for the rules and syntax differences.

Hi All
Can someone share with me the architecture or Design for any large localization Web project which primarily publishes the content , I mean
something like MSDN help being localized to different languages.
Please suggest me how I can approach for localizing MSDN if I have all my resource files in XML format.
A guy in China should see in Chinese and in US in English , also
1)There are some security implications to be added like all content should not be seen in a particular page outside USA, only specific sections pertaining to that country should be seen in that localized language.
2)Can manifest of an assembly be useful in doing a dynamic way of localizing.
Any reference or suggestions with the pros and cons of the architecture is highly appreciated as this is a bit urgent need.

Do a search and see if the topic has been done. Even if it has, you can add to the topic area with your article.

Hi,
Wondering if anyone knows of a way in which you can gain access to information about tabs which are opened within Internet Explorer 7. I have been playing around with Pavel Zolnikov's BandObject (http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/dotnetbandobjects.asp) and would like to see if I can access information about the tabs opened during a session.

I am Final Year Engineering student. I want to get information about connection of computers at different cites.
Actually if I want to computerize a department of any company which have its offices at several cities then what steps I should follow.
Means how I can connect that no of computers in appropriate manner to get desired output.
I want to make it just like railway reservation system through in which if I enter data at same time then database must be able to prioritize data in sequence to enter in database.
Which database & platform or language I should use to code this kind of project.

You have to train it under some one who knows how to do it. This site cannot train you..

You can connect those using Network Cards/ RJ 45/ Network cables(UTP or fiber optic or GB Ethernet or any other)/ Switches etc local net work can be connect via secured Wi-Fi too

Why don't you think to write your first article based on this topic? That will indeed be a good start.
It is nothing that you have to invent, but find the resources and combine them to form the article (Google or any other search engine/ MS technical site would greatly help you)

Does anybody have algorithm for character extraction from image ?
Where characters are deformed but in one horizontal line and vertically they are overlapping (i.e. it is not possible to separate two character through a vertical line ).........
