Hi,
I am using cross-tabs report for reporting in crystal reports for .net 2005. When the width of the report exceeds the width of the page so it cuts off the rest of pages.

Have you tried resizing or restructuring the layout? I think that would be the first step.

im using datagridview on my form (VB.net(winforns).
i am filling datagridview on formload.
i have clearAll button, so i want to clear all records of my datagridview whn user clicks on clear button.
Plz tell me how to code for it.

The code will not working because it's read only. By the way, if you use bounded data you can't clear it. But if you use typed data you can clear the collection with this:

End Sub

I couldn't find any forum related to just VB so the closest one to my topic was this one.
Does anyone know of a VB DEcompiler? I need to get some information out of our old compiled VB code. I believe is VB 5 or 6. Can anyone help me?

For decompiling a .exe file? You cannot do that, because once a program is compiled, there's no way of decompiling the code because it's just 1s and 0s then.

VB5 and 6 both compiled down to native code, but start at too high a level. There is nothing that will decompile it back to anything close to resembling the original source.

Search for reverse engineering and VB.
As already have been pointed out, it's impossible to get the original code back, but it's possible to re-create code that will do the same as the original code did.

Im wanting to find out alittle about the etiquette or practise if you like about handling databases in terms of do they ever need to be recreated after a certain time or is a database supposed to live for as long as you using the software .
I guess in short what im wanting to know is. if my app is a reciepting software , is there a time i need to tell my app that its time to backup a final copy of the database and create a clean copy perhaps each year or so. how does it work.
thanks. i hope i've been able to relay what i need so understand

It depends. If you want to hose a database and start again, then you'd recreate it. If the data was corrupt, you may restore from a backup. There's no way you regularly backup and restore for no good reason, and running your scripts again will delete all your data, by default.
And, if you're using an MDB, you have a pretty limited database to start with. It's not necessarily a problem, if your app is small, but you end up with a file you can easily just copy over, without having to use management services at all. But, only if you want to reset it, or restore to a point.

from what i've learnt is that its a matter of design right ?. actually i am using access db. is there a pattern i should follow when wanting to recreate or reset the database . for e.g. yearly . end of financial year etc. is that something i should incorporate in my app.

MDB is an Access database, or another name would be "Jet". It's the file extension used by Access.

If your requirements specify it, then yes. Like Christian said, it's up to you what you do with the data.

Given that you're using an MDB, the easiest solution would be to carry a copy of an empty database in the program, and copy it over the database if you ever want to reset it. But, yes, it's up to you. I've never offered this in any way, if I want to reset a DB, I run the scripts again, but generally a DB exists to store data, and once I store it, I keep it

Thanks a million Chris. I will migrate to SQL hopefully soon. i guess my thought to understand how databases should be maintained to be at a certain size etc especially when it comes to backups etc. in any fact i've got what i need for now and thankyou so much for your assistance.

You mean SQL Server ? It makes more sense for a distributed application, for sure.

Hello,
i've made an extended aero glass form with the DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea.
The problem now is, that i cannot see the text, because the ForeColor is Black and Vista makes everything is black transparent (like the glass effect), so how get i my text in black there?
I know, i can draw the text, but i have so much controls and have there an textbox control, so i can't draw easily the text.
Look at the MediaPlayer, at the bottom margin, there is the text of the song and so on and that's not drawed, but with an white shadow.
Can somebody help me to get my Text in Black?

I did the following steps:
1. Created a report using SQL Reporting Services. (OK)
2. Deployed the project (ABC) into the ServerX. (OK)
3. Opened the SQL Reporting Services using the Report Manager on localhost of the ServerX. (OK)
4. Opened the ABC folder. Files deployed. (OK)
5. Created two subscriptions. One (Service1) for printing to the Printer. One (Service2) for saving into a file. (OK)
6. Opened the Service1. In the View Tab, after entering the Report Parameters, clicked on "View Report". (OK)
7. I expected view to show what I viewed in the Project (ABC). (NOK - It printed a wrong format. Alignment was completely different)
8. Tried to export to a TIFF file expecting to see the same view as I saw in the Project (ABC). (NOK - It printed a wrong format. Alignment was completely different)
9. Tried to export to a PDF file expecting to see the same view as I saw in the Project (ABC). (NOK - It printed a wrong format. Alignment was completely different)
10. In the subscriptions, I ran the Service1 to print the report from the SQL Reporting Services directly onto the Printer. (NOK - It printed a wrong format. Alignment was completely different)
Is this an expected issue with SQL Reporting Services which incase doesnt make any sense to use it. Or it is an issue with my code. All I assumed that I should expect from SQL Reporting Services is: if I create a Report and I preview the Report, I should get a WYSIWYG formats.
Half the way through our project, we are completely stuck up. SOS!!!

Hi there,
Ive been working on a simple VB project for work now for a few months on and off. Its a very simple project, just opening and closing forms, nothing complicated as i have very little experience with programming. Its more for presentations sake than anythin functional.
Its due pretty soon, and of course, somethings gone wrong.
When I build the solution, i get three errors.
1. Could not copy temporary files to the output directory.
2. The file 'Name.exe' cannot be copied to the run directory. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
3. The file 'Name.pdb' cannot be copied to the run directory. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
There is nothing else running on the computer at the moment and i cant think of anythin i could have done for this to happen.
If anyone could help me out with this, i would greatly appreciated it

Has a reboot fixed your issue? Obviously something is locking your build files (Name.Exe & .Pdb) If that does not work try chaning your build folder. Project->Properties Click the Build Tab. In the output section Change "Output Path"

Well, you can use a template login page by selecting Add New Object > Login Form. Or you could create your own using a textbox, then matching the value of the textbox to a password.
