I am building a custom form designer in C#. I need to serialize the code compile unit, and later deserialize and reload the designer surface. I believe that I need to inherit from and implement the abstract DesignerLoader class to support custom loading of a designer and designer components. In particular, implement the IDesignerLoaderHost interface to extend a designer host to support loading from a serialized state. This method works, however it seems cumbersome considering that I really don't need it in XML format because the process of serialization and de-serialization is a closed circuit in my application. I was hoping to simply use a byte array. I will review the code and let you know if I have any revelations. That windows control uses an activeX control DSO Framer control. I made it as an assembly and installed it in to the GAC, but when I tried to display it in the browser nothing is visible. At the place of the control its giving a red mark. And I am running it in the local intranet only, could you please help me. I am trying to display office doc' in this control. Please help. Which browser are you testing it with? They contain fully unmanaged code, in scure data. Whcih may be like a body carrying cancer cells in it, at any time they may dangerous. Thats the problem am I not correct Pete. You did NOT remove the requirement for a client-side installation, you've actually created a second installation requirement to get your code to work. If these components are not installed on the client side, you'll see a little red X where the component should show up. This is because the browser can't find the components you specified in the OBJECT tag. You created a .NET wrapper around the control. It won't work without the original control being present and INSTALLED. Best guess would be that you have a permissions problem. If I were you, I'd create a very simple windows control, forget the DSO Framer control. Get that working in IE, then you will know you've worked through all issues for the simplest possible case, then you can insert the DSO thing into the windows control. It's possible that it's detecting that Active X is in use, and Active X settings need turning on as well. He's got it stuck in his head that he converted the .OCX control to a .NET assembly and that'll remove the requirement that the client installs a component.
