Hi,
I would like to know how to get the item being selected by the user from the popup menu which occurs when the user right clicks anywhere in the desktop or for eg if a slide show is running then how to get which menu item is been selected by the user from the menu which appears when he right clicks?

The actual control that you are talking about is not called a popup menu, it is called a ContextMenuStrip control. It works just like a MenuStrip control. Each item on the ContextMenuStrip is a ToolStripMenuItem and you can program the click event for each one. You should be able to find more information or help on the subject if you actually search for "ContextMenu".

I have a large project (800 000 lines) in VB6 which I am attemting to convert to .NET. This project does a considerable amount of asynchronous processing, requiring the called activeX module to call back to the calling activeX upon completion of a task, or to signal that an event has taken place.
This was easy in VB6: simply pass the activeX object to the called program as an initial parameter. Subsequent return calls are made to this object.
Surely there must be a simple way to achieve this same goal in .NET? I have spent days experimenting without success.
I cannot believe that Microsoft have taken a simple, elegant and practical language like VB6 and turned into an exercise in obscure, abstract computer science!

Sounds like you have two files for this class, you need to set the derived class to be the same in both. This usually happens if you start with a control, the framework uses partial classes to hide all the autogenerated code from you

Eldie's strategy is correct, but it can be done with a simple function that you can then use in any other textbox also:

The different numbers in the function (the same ones that Eldie uses) represent different characters:
48 to 57 are numbers and the others are things like tabs, points, commas, etc. You can add or remove these extra numbers from the function depending on what you need.

I am facing problem in that dll(Dynamic Link Library), which I have included into the project using add reference.Now I want to know , Whether I can use that dll as a control in the toolbar or not.I mean that dll is not appearing in he ToolBar.How Can I make it appear as a control in the toolbar.Initialy , I included that project into that solution and the control appeared into the Toolbar.But i want to include the dll rather the project file into the solution.

i have a simple application in vb.net as follows:
i have a textbox called salary.i have to enter the total salary amount that an employee as taken.after entering the total amount in the textbox when i press enter key a form will be displayed in which it will ask for the monthly break up i.e in which month how much salary taken..similarly i ve some other field..now when i finally press the submit button the total amount along with the monthly break up will be inserted into the database...i am using vb.net & ms access.
its urgent please...
any help in this will be highly appreciated..
