If i have the following properties enabled....

Form autosize = True
Form maxsize = True
Form minsize = True

Does this mean that my Form will goto the maxsize of the users screensize and not beyond.?

No, you have to set the WindowState to Full.

WindowState has no Full enumeration member, it's WindowState.Maximized.

The Form.MaximumSize and Form.MinimumSize properties do not accept a Boolean value, so that code has no meaning.

If you want your form to fill the screen all you have to do is set its WindowState property to Maximized:

myForm.WindowState = WindowState.Maximized

Hi all,

In vb.net given code(http://www.codeproject.com/vb/net/AutomatePhotoshop.asp) for incorporating photo shop application is very cool. In our project we required is the one to load the image adjust tools from toolbox ---crop tool,brush tools , magic wand tool etc... . Can any body help me in this area will be very help ful for us to proceed forward in the project. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I would like to automate powerpoint using visual basic. So for that i have created an add-in and that add-in will keep track of the events that is happening in the slide show. But when a click a slide i could able to keep track of the slide change only. Even an animation can occur when the user clicks. So an animation can occur either automatically or through events. If it is through events it can be either mouse or keyboard events. If it is using mouse event then the user can click to go to next animation or either choose next or previous my right clicking the during the slide show. If it is through key board then user may press any key key to change or previous slide. One thing is very clear that if the user choses any of the way the event that is going to appear is same. So how to keep track of this event? Or Which event will occur when the user does either? And how to the get the information about that event?

In otherwords which event will be posted when the user right clicks and choses next or previous? PLz someone help me in this.............................. If i could get the animation change then i have reflect the change in the client side. So that i wil take care. First i would like to know which event will occur or how to capture the mouse and aeyboard event?

Note : i am using visual basic

First, have you done any database work at all from VB.NET?

You'd have to create a table in the database, if you don't already have one to put this information, with, at a minimum, a column defined as Text with a specific length, say 50 characters. In your code you have to create an OleDbConnection object and a OleDbCommand object. This command object needs an SQL statement to add things to the column in your table. Then you create a OleDbParameter object:

Dim conn As New OleDbConnection(connectionString)
Dim comm As New OleDbCommand("INSERT INTO tableName (columnName) VALUES (?)", conn)
comm.Parameters.Add("@p1", OleDbType.VarChar, 50).Value = stringValueToAdd
conn.Open()
comm.ExecuteNonQuery()
conn.Dispose()

This is a very simplified example of one way to do this. I, in no way, imply that this will work with your code.

As described in the docs for WM_HOTKEY[^], you look at the LPARAM of the message to see which keys were pressed. You can then branch based that to each routine you wanted to do.

You could start by finding a English and Spanish dictionary class. Then pick each word out of (whatever you want to translate) and compare them to each word in the English/Spanish dictionary by using an identification method (not really sure how to do so).

What I am trying to do is make a card game but in the hand there is not always a set amount of cards I am using labels for this I got it to create the labels as needed but what I am trying to do now is get it to where if the click on the card it moves up a little to signify that it has been selected but I can't figure that part out on how to do it. Here is an ex. of the code I am using to create the first part of the hand.

For N = 1 To 13

Your approach is fundamentally broken. You should do this by creating graphics which you store as resources and draw to the screen ( or at least draw text right where you want it ). Moving labels and pictures boxes around is just a disaster.

In your FOR loop that is creating the labels, add an event handling function for the mouse click event, for example:
AddHandler Label(N).MouseClick, AddressOf CardClickFct

You will then need to create the CardClickFct, such as:

    Sub CardClickFct(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) <br />
       Dim TheCard as label = DirectCast(sender, Label)<br />

       ' TODO: Add whatever you want the card to do when its been clicked<br />
    End Sub

What you must also remember to do is remove the event handler when the label is destroyed (by calling RemoveHandler)....

You MUST ensure that your array variable "Label" is declared "WithEvents" for this to work!!!

I use VB.NET 2005 and
I want to search in combo's items . for example :
the combo have many names when I start to write the first litter of the name which I want to find , the combo automatically find the names which begin with the same letter and show them in order.

In VB6 I use this code :

try findstring on the text_changed event. Not Sure Exactly where to find it. maybe me.combobox1.findstring(me.combobox1.text), think that should do it. Should choose the closets matching item.

i want to add a new column to an excel-table, the name of this new column is the caption of a datagrid's column.
the only problem: the column's caption consists of two words (firstname, surname).
i use this command:

this works fine, but the names are enclosed by '-characters which doesn't look too nice. without '-character it doesn't work anymore, of course.

I am working on a VB project.
I was successful in creating an executable for the client using 'File->Make Project.exe'. But I want to provide the client with a setup, so that the client can install the whole project.
Actually the client has provided me with some install scripts in the '.wse' format. I cant figure out how to create an installable using these files.
Has anyone used .wse files to create installables. Please help

Load the file into a String variable, call Replace on it with the text you want to find and what to replace it with, then write the string back out to the file.

U can do with many methods.
1st... U can read file with filestream and read as byte or readline and search string with "InStr" function. or looping.
2nd the best idea is "regular expression".

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
