hi all
I have made a exe file in c# but when ever i try to execute it gives me the error The application failed to initialize.error code (0xc0000135).
Kindly suggest me he soution for the same thanks a lot in advance.

Why don't you type the same into your favourite search engine. I did and I got the answer on the first hit: "the most likely cause is that the machine you are using does not have the Microsoft .NET Framework installed"

so does that means that where ever i need to run the that exe i need to install the .net framework first os there any otherwork around?
i m saying this because i need to run this exe on around 500 computer and it is not a easy job to install .net framework on all of them.
Kindly suggest some workaround?

You will have to install the .NET framework on all of them.

To run a C# / .NET application, you need the .NET framework installed on all machines that run the app.

There are some very expensive products that will link the .NET framework into your app, do a google for .NET linker.

Or rewrite it in a none .NET language. Big Grin | :-D

If it is to run as a Windows Form app on .NET, then you need the .NET runtime installed.

Alternatively, you could develop it as an ASP.NET application which would only need the .NET runtime installed on the web server.

I'm sure it can't be too difficult but I can't seem to figure out how to invoke an instance of Internet Explorer from my application in C#.

I would also then need to kill the instance of IE after a certain event in the main program.

Any advice please?

starting IE is simple,
Process.Start("iexporer");

or if you want e certain URL
Process.Start("http://www.codeproject.com");
but this will open the page in your default browser

Opening IE using an url
Process.Start("iexporer", "http://www.codeproject.com");

I thought IE runs in a single process, so killing IE will not only stop the 'started' instance, but the entire IE process. (I don't know if this also counts for IE7, haven't got it installed) so killing er certain instance of IE will be a more difficult story. Do you only want to kill the started instance, or the entire IE process??

Good grief! Could you believe that it turns out to be that easy!?!? I almost feel stupid now for even asking the question, but thanks.

As for killing the instance, it doesn't really matter. Come to think of it, I would actually prefer if the entire IE process is killed.

That would look something like this

System.Diagnostics.Process procIe =  System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessesByName("iexplorer");<br />
procIe.Kill();

I suggest using the System.Diagnostics namespace in stead of typing them all over the place, and maybe the process name does not match IE, but I think i'm pretty close Wink | ;-)

I think you have to query the active directory to get the logged in user.

try searching on the active directory.

The place to start would be looking at the System.DirectoryServices namespace. Possibly the DirectoryEntry class would be of help to you.

Hi ,

I need to redirect the contents of the command to a file. I tried doing this using follwing peice of code but it doesnt seem to be working.
System.Diagnostics.Process QueryProcess = new System.Diagnostics.Process();

String command = @"ipconfig/all";
QueryProcess.StartInfo.FileName = command;
QueryProcess.StartInfo.Arguments = " >c:\\a.txt";
QueryProcess.Start();
QueryProcess.Close();

Kindly look into the problemand tell me the solution ASAP.

You could always stream the StandardOutput to a file - See the docs on MDSN for the System.Diagnostics.Process class

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to get all data from the serialport before processing it.

I got an event handler for the serialport and this is how i receive the data:

string buffer += serialport.ReadExisting();

These are my delegate and event to read the data:

public delegate void GetData(string getDataFromBuffer);
public event GetData getTheData;

After that this event handler is fired:

if (this.getTheData != null)
this.getTheData(buffer);

All data i get will be appended to a richtextbox. Problem is, it keeps appending even the data already exists.

It kinda looks like this:

123.
123.455
123.455.5677

But i want to append it all at once.

Any suggestions how to fix this?

Hi,
If you only want to keep the latest text only, then dont concatenate the original text with the new one.

I think you might be doing something like this -
RichTextBox1.Text = RichTextBox1.Text + this.getTheData(buffer);

Change it to
RichTextBox1.Text = this.getTheData(buffer);

Hope i got what you want, but i am not sure about it.
