Is the operation running in a background thread on the server? Then you can just make the operation store it's status in a database or something, so that you can send a request that will get the status and return it.
If the operation is the current request, then you can't use callback, as the server will only execute one request at the time for each user.

Hy, i have to create a xml from a single dll. I have to list all methods and properties from all classes from that dll, but i dont know how to do it. I know its with Instrospection, but dunno how to do this. Pls, help me

Maybe xsd utility can help you do what you want to do.
There is a utility included in VS2003 (I think it should be in VS2005 too) name XSD.exe that can generate a xsd schema from a dll or a xml file and also it can generate classes according to a provided xsd schema.

I'm working on a hexeditor that uses 32bit and 64bit offsets (for files over 4GB), problem is the scrollbar only accepts int values, where I want each value to be a row of hex, so the maximum would be long.MaxValue / 0x10. What's the best option to deal with this? I'm thinking the only options are creating my own scrollbar, or shrinking the value, however if the value is shrunk I want to do it cleverly, so smaller files won't have massive steps in the scrollbar.

Recently Micorsoft produces the Visual Studio 2005,and the C++/CLI is extremely diffrent from the standard C++.And I also learned that the MFC is numbered her days! When I want to learn the Visaul Studio 2005 development,Which direction will be my best choice.C# OR Visual C++.NET?
And could you recommend some wonderful books that will lead me comfortable to the world of Visual Studio 2005(I have no experieces in windows programming!).

go fo c++/cli if you know the basic concepts than using c# java vb.net etc will be a matter of few days (they all share oops and have diffrent syntax ) so go for concepts not syntax

I'd go with C#, because that's far more widely used, so you'll f ind a lot more resources out there.

C# appears the way to go at the moment. I've been a C++ developer for 10 and I've been trying to get into C# development for the last 3. In about 3 weeks I'll be starting a new job that's pure C#, no C++! Can't wait. The best advice I can give you is keep an eye on the job market, see what's in demand. Even though I'm going C# I'll be keeping my C++ development skills active, I don't want to lose them - you never know when they'll come in handy and get me a nice contact or something!

You can sort the ArrayList, then the duplicate values will be next to each other so that you easily can find them.
Depending on what you use the list for, it might be much easier to remove the duplicate values before they even end up in the ArrayList. If you for example get the values from a database, it's much easier to just not fetch the duplicate values at all.
You can use a Hashtable to make it easier to determine if a value already exists in the list.

Hi,
I have write a simple application only to understand the Select command, but it doesn't work well.
In my application i have 3 button. When I click button 1 i disable button 1 and 2. When I click on button3 i reanable button 1 and 2 and want to select button 1 again.
The code (without the designer part) i wrote is the following:

Seriously though: look into the Graphics[^] class

Pretty easy.
1) Override the OnPaint method of your form.
2) This method gives access to PaintEventArgs which has a property named Graphics which you will use
3) You cant draw a point, but you can draw a rectangle with dimentions 1,1 - ie one pixel square at your given point (note the point will be the top right corner of your rectangle.

I'm developing an windows application in .NET 2.0 where the user is supposed to navigate around the application using the arrow keys(I'm using KeyDown event to handle user key input).
My problem is that I want to use UserControls in my application but whenever I add my UserControls to my windows form the form don't recieve any KeyDown events when I press the arrows keys, however it reacts to any other keys being pressed!
Is this a bug and is there another way to do this?
