hello, i want you help, how can i let a windows gui program run in background, don't tell me use ShowWindow(SW_HIDE), i have tried that one, it's not a good method.
There's such a function, SetForegroundWindow(), can i use SetBackgourndWindow...
And several monthes ago, when i telnet to another pc, and run Notepad.exe in that computer, i found Notepad.exe is really in that computer's background, i want that effect also, can anybody help me.

Have a look at the BackgroundWorker class. That should be what you need.

You could launch a GUI app from a windows service application using CreateProcess().
I suppose the telnet session did that with notepad.
Edit: Also you could use ShowWindow(SW_HIDE)

What exactly do you mean by this? Unlike Unix, Windows does not have the capability to run processes in the background. They are either running or they are not. A window's Z-order has no bearing on whether its process is running or not.

I need to develop simple code to print the contents of a directory and the contents of all sub directories. The files to be printed will be selected according to a user defined extension. Which library and commands will be most useful?

FindFirstFile will not help me. i need to navigate through a filesystem and print the contents of each directory to the screen, counting the number of directories in each level.

I've installed VS2005, but some of my projects can't be compiled to
debug version, the program will fail on "can't find msvcr80.dll"
message, when launched. However, the release version is ok. And
also some projects can run debug version correctly.
I know 'can't find msvcr80.dll' problem exists on system without .NET framework installed, but that's not my case.
Does anyone know the probably cause???

I'm relatively new to the doc/view architecture. I have a splitter and two views (vertical splitter). One of the views is straight-forward stuff that MFC does already. The other view is where I want to:
1) Show a toolbar with buttons at the top.
2) Show a tab control just below that.
3) Show another view below that.
The tab control should switch between 2 to 4 views and should not have any funky borders. That is, the view currently showing below the tab control should look seamless with the tab control.
I've been everywhere on Google and CP. The closest thing I've found is somewhere between CTabView[^], CSDITrueColor[^], and CMDITabs[^]. However, none of these solutions includes a toolbar. I could roll my own control, but I've never done that and that still doesn't tell me how to manage a view inside a control (unless you count the SubView[^] article that doesn't make much sense to me).
I should mention that I don't need icons on my tabs, but I do need a toolbar (which none of the above links have). And I'm looking to do this without buying some expensive package or using WTL.
