I have a control that acts like control container. It looks like a table with borders, about 21px from top and 1px from bottom, left and right.
When I add a control to my control, I can place this added control anywhere, even on that 21px table header where is places control name, so that added control is above and I can see the name.
How can I set the region of that control inside this measures (21px from top and 1px from bottom, right and left) so when I set the controls inside this my control to DockStyle.Fill, so that my control borders and header with name remain visible?
I've tried with AutoScroll, but no luck.

this.DockPadding.Top = 21;
this.DockPadding.Bottom = 1;
this.DockPadding.Left = 1;
this.DockPadding.Right = 1;

Hello!
I need help guys...
How can i control the vbscrollbar in a multiline textbox with 2 buttons, so that the text scrolls down and up in the same way the normal up and down keys on the scrollbars do. The 2 buttons i want to use are not in the textbox i want to place them somewhere else on my form.
so plz help me.

I've seen this asked & answered before, but don't remember where (and can't seem to find it now that I'm interested).
I want to be able to double-click on my own .xyz files and open them in my program, much like double-clicking on a .doc file opens it in your preferred word processor. I suspect it has to do with the registry and a commandline switch or arg or something.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?

If you're not asking for a programmatical approach, the simplest way would be following these three steps:
1) Right click on the file and go to "Open with..." menu.
2) Choose your program (executable) via "Browse..." button; then check "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".
3) Click "OK" to close the "Open With" dialog.

My application isn't that cool yet. In the list, it doesn't have a name or description (just an icon). When I follow those steps, it opens my application without opening the selected file.

I see. Then, you probably want to make your application to support certain document types first. A critical step I remember is that when you register the document templete in YourApp.cpp file, indicate the document type. Google "document templete" for more information.

That would be fine if I was still using C++, but I liberated myself from that a long time ago. It's just a plain C# Windows Forms application with some simple text file IO capabilities.
I found a little help in an old MSKB article, but it's all VB, so it'll take me a bit to figure out what the heck they're trying to do (ie, I might as well be trying to read Portuguese, when I know Spanish instead). But it shouldn't be impossible, just tedius.

As far as I can tell, there are two requirements:
- put in a specific registry entry
- adjust your program to account for a commandline argument
However, I'm a little fuzzy on the details (and, since this thread has fallen so far down the list, I doubt anyone will reply), so you'll probably just have to keep searching the internet for the specifics.

System.IO.File.ReadAllText will read the file in a single line of code, and will guarentee to close the file. I don't believe the code you were given will close the file.
Use the visible property to show the button if the text is equal. You may want to also call the Trim method to remove leading and trailing whitespace, otherwise you may think it should be equal when it is not.

i have to develop in my software project that show screen of one PC in other pc with mouse pointer on LAN.
for that i have thought two ways.
- first is capture screen like Print screen key on keyboard then compress the bitmap and then send it to other machine and display. in this more than 12 images should be transfer per second to look like real time.
i have developed this for one image . one image transfers successfully. but, when try to send one by one image. no image is display on other PC.
- the other way is convert images in to video file of 5 -5 seconds or more. and transfer it using stream of bytes like in webpages. but i don't know how to convert images in to video file.

Hi all,
I want to build a progressbar that increment its value depending on other process like retrieving data from sql database.
For the first time it will take some time to retrieve table data and showed in dataGridView, so progressBar should express and represent for the time that it will take to retrieve data.
In the next time, retrieving data will be faster and progressBar will move faster as a result.

Sounds difficult since you dont know how long it will take to get the data from the database. Perhaps you could first ask the database how many 'hits' your sqlquery would produce, and set the progressbars 'maxvalue' to equal 'hits'. Then finally retrieve one value at a time incrementaly and update the progressbar each time.
If it's the data manipulation that takes time, you'd get all the values in one call to the database, set the 'maxvalue' equal to rows retrieved, and then update the progressbar each time you've prosessed one row of data into the DataGridView.
If you want the progressbar to float in a dialogwindow over the parentwindow, you can make a custom form containing only the progressbar. Let the form take the maxvalue for the progressbar in the constructor and expose the increment method through a public method in the form. Then create the form before you start prosessing data, and call the increment method each time you've prosessed a row. You'd just close it through the eventhandlers when the progressbar reaches 100%.
