Its quite easy to make an Owner Drawn control. Basically, you are telling a control that you will write the code to draw each item in a control. In the case of a combo box, each item is an item in the drop-down portion.
To do it, follow these steps
1) Drag a combo box to your form
2) In the properties window change its DrawMode property to OwnerDrawnFixed
3) Change to the events and double click the DrawItem event
4) Switch to code view and you should have this
private void comboBox1_DrawItem(object sender, System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs e)

5) Write your code in there, for example I used the following code to alternate bold and nomal items

Yes. Use services.msc console and set the Startup type for your service to Automatic.

Hello All, I am new to C# and database programming, following are details,
I have a table in SQL which is transferred to oracle (by an user application). The table name remains the same.
My application should populate the SQL and oracle table rows in 2 seperate datagrids in such a way that it shows the differing rows in a different colour or Just display the differing rows. The difference would be because of if row is missing or if manually tables are tampered by user after table gets transferred from SQL to Oracle.
Currently I am populating the table datas in a datagrid ( using dataset and dataadapter in ADO.NET), and comparing each row from the source data row with all rows in the target datarow. This works fine for limited number of rows, when the table size is huge with tonnes of rows, the method used is practically not feasible or may take hours of time to do the comparison.
It would be great, any suggestions or possible solutions can be posted.

As you have two different databases, you can't do it anywhere except in your code. You may find it easier to build a query that asks db1 to return records that are not in a list you provide, but I'm not sure if that would be faster or not. In other words, do one query on oracle, for the list. From that list, build queries to ask what records are missing, are extra, or have changed. That's the only way I can see to have the DB work for you, because the only way it can work is if you bring the data from one DB into the other, otherwise they have no connection.
