Chris, it would be really cool if we had an article/area and forum for topics that don't relate to source code but are still technical in nature. I just submitted 7 articles that represent probably 100 hours of work I've done just in preparing them and they are getting low-voted because they are not programming articles. I realize this is "CodeProject" but like I mention in my articles if your network isn't running right and you have code that runs across networks then your code won't work either.
I'd also like to write an article about being self-employed and running your own business. I'm not favorable to doing so though if it's just going to get low-voted and removed. Marc Clifton and I were going to work on something together and if we had a full-fledged place to submit it that would be cool. A lot of regular members here have a lot of questions about this stuff that indirectly relates to what they do. So some expansion categories might be a good thing.

I agree. A networking and business related forum, would be cool, and a forum for general design, design patterns and UML, that isn't necessarily "code" oriented, would also be cool.
I realize that the number of different forums could get out of control, or might not be very active, so maybe some general ones would suffice.

Hello!
I'd suggest to create some ".NET 1.0/1.1" group for C# articles. This group would contain all articles that are .NET 1.0/1.1-specific, or where only useful at that time.
Why? For example, have a look at this page:

Very many articles. Unfortunately if you're working with .NET 2.0, many of the articles are useless, because .NET 2.0 introduced features that made the articles .NET 1.0/1.1-specific (better alternative ways come with .NET 2.0 directly).
Balloon tooltips can displayed without native methods (old article[^]), button images are supported (old article[^]), etc. etc. etc. Skimming over the article list, I'd say at least 25% of the articles could be moved to the .NET 1.0/1.1-specific group.

I know this happens to everyone - you want to vote a message "good" but you click 1 instead of 5. Then you have to apologize in a reply. How about this instead:
The system keeps track of the last message that you voted on. If you vote for that message again, the new vote is accepted and it replaces the previous vote.
This will let people immediately correct mis-votes. On the database side, it just requires keeping one new int per user to hold the ID of their last-voted-on message.

Thanks, Chris. You're right about that. I assumed that WinFx articles would appear when the search is set to .NET since WinFx was officialy renamed to '.NET 3.0', as I assume you know. Might it be possible to filter in .NET 3.0 articles when the filter is set to '.NET'? Thanks again.

I updated my XSuperTooltip article, but it did not get the green "updated" flag? (Maybe I just don't understand when an article is flagged as updated.)

We had a situation where people where updating their article everyday with spurious updates. Now, articles are only marked as being updated if more than a week has passed since the last update.

I think is useful to have a those two counters because:
1. If a message was not answered, the writer could get an idea as for why his question was not answered.
If many people had viewed the thread it's likely that the question is hard to answer.
2. The forum readers would get an idea as for how interesting/useful the thread is.

1) is why I have a "how to get your question answered" post at the top of most forums
2) is covered by the current message voting system

Well... I partially agree with both arguments. 
But hmm... I know that I, for one, am not always thinking of voting, even if a post is really good... My mind is occupied by reading.
And as for the first argument, aren't you just anxious to know how many people have read your posts???

You'd end up with stroppy people going "3000 people have read this - why hasn't anyone replied!!!".
It's the same thing as read receipts on emails - very annoying.
