User controls are not aware of each other. You have to access the controls through code in the main page, or if you can limit the use of a control to once per page, you can use a threadstatic reference in the class to the created instance.

Hello All
I have created an ASP.NET 2.0 DetailsView and am binding it at RUNTIME to a dataset by doing this
DetailsView1.DataSource = ds
The control is in Edit Mode and when it is loaded I can see the data fetched from the database.
But when I want to update the data in the DetailsView into the database , under the ItemUpdating event I call DetailsView1.UpdateItem(True) method.This unfortunately does not work.
My Questions are
1. Is it possible to use this method when the control has been bound at runtime? Cause all the code snippets I have seen so far are oing it at design time
2. If it is possible is there any property thats needs to be set OTHER than CurrentMode = 'Edit'?
3. Is there any way to access the value in the textboxes of the DetailsView at runtime

Yes. But if you don't provide the DetailsView control with a datasource control you then need to create an handler for the ItemUpdating event of the DetailsView and put your code to execute the update command.

You can use the ChangeMode method.

You first need to get reference to the TextBox using the FindControl method, you then can access the value of the control.

Dear all,
I have a submit button, two dropdown list, one textbox and some check boxes. I want to validate the form. The problem is I used javascript function for validating check boxes and validation control for rest of the controls. I add button.attribute.add() for adding javascript.
But at the same time they are not working. only javascript function is working ,validation control not working. If i comment button.attibutes.add() function then only validation controls working.
I want to work both valiadtion control and javascript function at client side. Please suggest any option

The validators used in .NET are client side validators. And javascript is rendered for all the validators that you use in your project.
But, if you add both , you can.

When adding controls dinamically to a page, you should add them inside a placeholder control.
This assures that your controls will render correctly. Sometimes when not adding the controls in the place holder they will work other times they won't. Just like in your case.
So, add a place holder control in the page controls collection, then add your linkbutton inside the place holder.

Because you add the dynamic control to the Controls collection of the Page instance, so it is placed outside the form element which is a child of the parent Page. So like Mircea suggested, you simply place a container like PlaceHolder control onto the web page inside in the form element, and add the dynamic control to the container.

a = 15 / 10
Answer comes 2 because a = 1.5 and a is rounding off to 2.But I want 1 . Please solve the problem.

The / operator is a floating point operator, not an integer operator. What your code really is doing is this:
Dim a As Integer<br />
a = 15<br />
a = Convert.ToInt32(Convert.ToDouble(15) / Convert.ToDouble(10))
Use the \ integer operator instead:
a = 15 \ 10
If that doesn't help you need floating point operations after all. Use the Floor method:
a = Math.Floor(15 / 10)
