Hi, first for all I want to thanks for this wonderfull site 
I think your are in the right way allways adding new features and improviding others !!
This is a list of little things that can be added, is just my 2 cents.
- Add and RSS feed for the messages in the articles.
- Add to the stats the numbers of downloads and use it for the popularity.
- Add a copy of the vote radio buttons at the top, near the Result.
- Remember the downloaded articles for each user (private).
- Allow users to be notified by mail when the article is updated, maybe clicking in a button at the bottom of the page.
- Add a way to remove old files from the article editor when the owner update it.
- An easy way to get a permanent link because all the links to the useritems directory will be wrong (Anyway the asp page propouse the correct one, but I see in the newsletter that you use a permanent link)
- To the lastest best picks the articles must have more than 8 or 10 votes (to avoid noise)
- When you browse for example for controls these are sorted by rating (not is better to use populatiry ?)
CodeProject is the better source of good stuff in DotNet and others technologies and is an honor to send articles to this site and help to enhace it

Just adding my (probably wrong) opinion...
Add to the stats the numbers of downloads and use it for the popularity.
While the current voting method is vulnerable, many people (well, me!) download an artcles code if the article looks half decent. If the code is good too (does what I'm told it'll do), it'll be bumped up before I voted for it.
Also, on a good article, sometimes I'll redownload the code if its been updated, or I've lost the zip file, etc. All of which would unfairly skew the result.
Add a copy of the vote radio buttons at the top, near the Result.
Being at the bottom makes them a little harder to find, but it does make it more likely that people will al least skim the article before voting, rather than snap decisions.

This I like. There are some articles that are almost code libraries. It would be nice to know when bug fixes, etc have been released. I, of course, have fixed any bugs looooong ago.

YES. One of my articles briefly appeared on best picks with (I think) 2 votes. It rapidly sunk to its proper "decent" rating. But even though I know the author, I still get suspicious of the 1-2 vote ratings.

By lack of finding another place to put this, I am posting it here. If I'm really not in the right place, I'm sorry.
1st I'd like to say that this site has saved my hide more than once. So thank you to all the contributors for that
2nd I keep getting javascript errors on this site. Always line 247, char 2, always permission denied. the pages load up properly by pressing ok to the error message, its just kind of anoying.

What kind of browser you use.
When i had IE5, i got a lot of errors, until i replace it with IE6
But now i am using FireFox 1.5
I had recently clean instalation of windows XP and when i tried CP it worked without any problems. Did you scan your computer with Spyware and Adware, Sometimes they can break a lot of thing in your computer.

using IE6 on XP sp2. I scan my pcs with Adaware and Spy-Bot regularly. This has been happening to me ever since I can remember. Could be an IE thing, dont know. Perhaps its a security thing, but I'm set at default "Medium" so I think its unlikely.

I just had my friend on the phone, with a lot worse case than you. His IE just opening a debugging window with a random page. The link above describes how to disable the link.

Well, I've added the site to my trusted sites list but to no avail. I've even turned off my my security settings...
I need debugging for work both at the office and at home. And since the companies we develop apps for strictly use IE 5.5+, I dont want to have to install another browser. I guess I'll just have to remember to turn debugging off when I come to this site.

At the top of each article is a rating based upon the voting for an article. Another nice metric would be how many users have bookmarked the article too. Additionally you could also have a page that lists articles by this metric.
Although maybe other people don't use bookmarks like I do.

The CP forums are one of the best I've come accross, but I do have a couple of comments:
- would be great if there was a shortcut key to open the next post
- clicking a post moves it to the top of the screen. Having the page jump around like that is irritating. Would be great to have an option to turn that off.
- Sometimes in a thread with many posts you can't easily see who a certain post is replying to.

dear chris
thanks for reply,what i was saying that click some button and it save newsletter content in some fileformat like doc pdf etc but i just realize tht format of archive is good,simple ctrl+c and ctrl+v would be enuff .
however there would be demant of others users too to go beyong MS products and cover other languages too,i wish it could happen on CP cos the quality of stuff available here,i didnt find anywhere else plus differen forums,simply awesome.
how about introducing python?its supported by MS.net too now?

Is it possible to show old articles (links) on homepage without updating them? Otherwise there is no chance for these articles to reappear. Just like in NewsPaper websites old news reappears. i think you get me.

why you don't make the old message on this board be news (by moving it to the top of the messages board) when some one reply to the question or something like that...

It will bury new questions and the OP will get an email to say they have a reply anyway - assuming they've turned on that feature.

the problem is ....when you OP get the reply email...he should go back to the posted message on the board....
so....
what if the message posted more than three days...
so, he sould go back and jump from first page of the datagrid (the message board) by clicking next to find his message (considering there's multiple replys and he want to reply to someone)

Each reply email contains the url of the reply, one click takes you to the reply and one more click gets you simple access to the entire thread.
Or am I misunderstanding your point?

The link in the email takes you directly to the message posted. It opens the correct page on the message board and opens the correct message for you. One click does it all - What more do you want?

the question of knowing who votes for a post, giving feedback to the owner of the post has been asked to much time, this is not my request here (even if i wish it could be done).
my question is : what can we do when some one make a big effort to kill me over the site.
i explain. since the 3 days i'm back at CP, i've be voting about 9 times to '1', all of these were anonymous of course.
so i told myself : maybe someone don't like me, or don't like my answers (but that weird as they're not to the same recipient), or also that someone couldn't used to the fact that i'm been nominated in the most helpful people of the year 2005...
for all these points, i certainly will never know, and never be able to do anything against it, but i hope the policies can change consequently, and the ones who did this can be alerted too.
