Sorry, I worked that out later
Keeping your functions small is another recommendation from the book, actually. You'll probably find, as I did, that most things it recommends, you do, but it's worthwhile just to think about the reasons why.

i want to convert a JPG image to BMP
i used this way:
dim BMPImage as new System.Drawing.Bitmap(JPGImageName)
BMPImage.Save(JPGImageName,System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Bmp)
but an exception come up and say: "A generic error occured in GDI+"
so what is the problem?
and Should i work with XML to solve this problem?

It's failing because you're trying to save the file using the same name that you loaded it from. Since the file is locked, the save won't work. Try changing the filename you want to save it to.
Dim srcImage As New Bitmap(JpgImageName)
srcImage.Save(someOtherFilename, ImageFormat.Bmp)

Utter exhaustion! Between the Holiday's, travel, work load stress, and screwed up travel expense reimbursment (Ouch!!), for both my fiancée and myself... Well, it hasn't been that fun.
She had to make three business trips in the first 3 weeks of December, all out of her pocket up-front. I had 2 trips during the same time. We didn't see each other for about 2/3rd's of the month!
Then we went to her parents in Chicago for Christmas. That was a nice little break, but WAY too short at 4 days! Santa was good to us though. A couple of power toys for around the house, stuff for the XBox, and a couple books on Poker.
I'm buried up to my eye balls in dead Dell's because they used a Tiawanese motherboard manufacturer and the capacitors in 'em are puffing up and spewing crap all over the place! (known as Capacitor Plague) It's really cutting into my Dev time and putting me WAY behind on various projects.
But, things are looking up! I'm running out of machines to replace MB's in, neither one us has any out-of-town business comming up until April, she's starting a new management position where she works, and since I have a Government job, some more holidays comming up!
Then, there's out wedding in May, and it's off to Vegas for 10 days! WooHoo! Hopefully, we'll be on vacation for the rest of 2006 after that!

Wow - 10 days in Vegas. I hated it for 10 hours. I guess everyone is different....

Vegas is fun for a while, but we're not spending all of our time there. We're taking the camera's out to the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead for bit, maybe do a little kayaking. Got some new filters to play with.

Now, that's a different story. I'd spend a week in the Grand Canyon, no problems at all. It was the highlight of my trip.

Component:
Form "A", Module "module1"
Form A only have a button, the click event only has
<br />
me.hide()<br />
Module1, sub Main
<br />
dim frm as form<br />
frm = new A<br />
frm.showdialog()<br />
When I click the button in form A,
the application end, but not just hidden the form.
How can I hide the form A only, but would not end the application.

I guess the 64,000 question is, if your app is hidden, of what use is it ? I guess you'd do better to make your app not show up on the taskbar, and then minimize it, or move it to a non visible area of the desktop ?
Are you trying to write something that acts like a service ? If so, just write a service

Your application just quits because you haven't started a message pump that the form can use. Start with creating a normal Windows Forms application, not a console app. You can then put the Me.Hide in a button and it'l actually work!

Hello,
I've been trying to convert a simple USB control program from VB to C#.net for a past few days and I'm making no headway. Can anyone help? The original program is at
http://www.devasys.com/release.htm
Its at the bottom of the page, along with a C++ example.
Much thanks.

there is min values for all kind of datatypes, like: integer.minvalue = -2147483648, or Date.minvalue = 12:00:00 AM, that I must use. But when displaying results in datagridview/listview I want to display nothing/empty cell. I have to use binding.
|
|
|
|
|
What are you trying to do ? The most logical way to deal with any situation like this is to massage the data going into the grid. In other words, return empty values, when that is what you want to show.

yes, agree. But what is an empty value for Date? - It is "12:00:00 AM", empty for Integer - 0. But 0 in my case is a number and anyway the values will be shown in datagridview. It's confusing, so, I'm looking for a way to show just empty cell instead 0 or 12:00:00 AM... Thank you.

I have no idea what your problem is here. You're editing values in the grid ? Why do you have empty values to start with, and why are they showing these values if they are empty ?

I have to display a group of contacts in datagrid - not editable. Fields are first name, last name, and dob (to keep it simple). DOB is not required, so for contacts who didn't specify their DOB I'd like to display nothing. But I'm getting 12:00:00 AM, which is confusing, because there is no such date for birthday. Once again, because I use binding, when DBNull comes to the place (DOB is empty in a database), it's converted into 12:00:00 AM automatically in a datagrid
|
|
|
|
|
Why don't you turn the date into a string in your data source then ?
Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

first of all, how . And then, I have about 20-30 fields for each contact, and may have over 100000 contacts in a database. It will slow down

Easy - you're returning the data from a stored proc, surely ? So, turn it into a string there. Or, if you prefer, iterate through the data again before passing it over to the datagrid. Or ( best option IMO ), databind on a function which returns either the date as a string, or an empty string if it's DBNull.

Hi,
In datagrid_itemdatabound event check for the dob, if it is no value or null set visible false for that particular cell
check for dob if no value then
e.item.cells("dob").visible=false
