I think you'll need to use Application.DoEvents()a good place to put it would be right after data is sent to Form2. Also you could call Form2.Invalidate to force it to redraw.

i have this data and i want to use regular expression to get particular sets so as to put it into an array, then to excell. For now am stack at how to use regex method or any regular xpression method to get the the first occuranse of the double zeros, the the subsequent zeros separtely.
5 188631 004 TUMUSHABE BENSON -357,609 00 00 00 20901 0.00
5 446478 003 BAGONZA LYNETTE -261,350 00 00 00 20901 60,000.00

i need2capture the first '00', 2nd '00' and so on up to the last 0.00. by the way these values can change eg '00' --> '16' etc
using the string split() method may not work as "5 188631 004" is to be taken as one number. So are the names. after that every space inbetween the numbers is indiacates a new column.

why go through all of that? it appears that values are separated by a space (" ") so try using split():
dim vArray as Variant
dim sLineIn as string
vArray = Split(sLineIn, " ")
'creates a 0-based array separating the input string by spaces

'in foruth sample you are missing a space after "-"

I already test in vb6 application. Just change the ForeColor property in the code if you know the Name of the text box. Example:

E.g. Filename = "test.txt" and then I need to return the whole path (e.g "C:\Test\test.txt")

Do you not have any other information about the location of this file? Would it noramlly be in the application folder, or "My Documents" or something. Presuming you do know the directory then the fullpath is just a string so use string manipulation:
filepart = "test.txt"
folder = "c:\test"
fullpath = folder & "\" & filepart

No, I don't have any more information about the file. It is a file an external application creates when it installs. I need to find the file (wherever the user installed it) and update it from my application if the installed version is out dated. (Hope this makes sense to you?)

If you don't know where the file is, you'll have to glean some hints from the app, like its config files or something in the registry. Other than that, the more unreliable method is to search the entire hard drive for the filename. The problem with this method is that what if there are multiple files with the same name?

u can make a for loop to get the filename until it reaches the (.)period before the extension name.

In the function definition, sender is passed as a parameter. Sender is actually the control that is clicked. It is of type control, not button though. So you can test sender:
If sender.name = "button1" then
' do stuff
ElseIf sender.name = "button2" then
' b2 stuff
End if
If you added the controls at runtime then you won't might not have set the name property, in that csae the quick way is to set the tag property to something as you create the controls and then test sender.tag.

I can show data from a table to a datagrid now how to update the same table as per the changes made in datagrid.

Hi - welcome to code project, and programming in general ( well, VB anyhow ). What you're asking here is a common problem, which has been described in detail on hundreds of web pages. There's this site called google, http://www.google.com[^]. You'll find that if you pursue the world of programming, you'll use it a lot, because there are always new things to learn, and they are all just a google away. Of course, once you've done this and tried the examples you find online, you may still have more specific questions or problems, that's where message boards like this one come into it.
