Indeed; 1280x1024x2. Dual 21" CRT's  but it's better than a single monitor anyway.
Left monitor: VS.NET, Explorer, and e-mail client.
Right monitor: App being debugged, SourceSafe, and an internal debugging tool.
Background builds run on the right monitor too, given that I'm working on four products simultaneously. While one is building, I'm working on another one. Note to self: Either get a faster squirrel or better whip.

I have my "Compare Versions" view in Visual Source Safe spreading over 2 monitors, so that I see one file on the left and its changes in the new file on the right.

Yes, Nearly Exactly the same, i love using multiple screens, not only dual screens if i am using the desktop computer for work i have 3 screens stretched, i have also been looking at 9xmedia.com, looking at the servers with one computer multiplexed over 32 X 30" by 40" screens - its only from $248,000 to $262,000 excluding $32,000 insurance - ha ha i dont think so - i might wait a while for the prices to fall, lol the total size of the screen is 90" X 400" AWESOME!!!!

2x21 inch at work, and 2x20 inch LCD's at home, both 1600x1200. Could do with another 2 at work, which is not out of the question. Need to move to a desk with more space first.

I have similar kind of dual monitor setup. I read somewhere that dual monitors should boost up productivity up to 30%.
Don't know about that, but I definitely work faster with wide dual screen display instead if one with continuos ALT+TAB or virtual desktops hassle.

For working on graphics intensive applications, the dual monitors are essential.
While debugging the WM_PAINT handler, it is essential to avoid extra paint messages, so the application being debugged runs on one monitor, and everything else is on the other monitor.
While examining the application graphics at the pixel level, the application runs on one monitor and ZoomIn runs at full screen on the second monitor.

I work since 6 months with a Dell 2405 FPW (24 inch), I bought it myself for about 1300 $. I use Visual Studio 2003 to develop C++ COM components. On the left of my IDE is the file tree, in the middle the code and on the right the output window. And the second monitor is a 19 inch acer for documentations. I would give away my 24-inches, perhaps for a bigger one with the same resolution

Now I upgrade to 27 Inches with the same resolution, but the pixel size is a bit larger...I am getting older and older and my eyes need glases...

I really agree that big screens will improve productivity. I wish I too can work on such screens (Still working in 1024 resolution).

In the last few years I have been doing a lot of work developing applications that run on 5 megapixel medical monitors. These are 2048 X 2560 and a typical system will have 2 of them but I have worked at times with 4 of them installed. The only problem (besides the cost $10K US/monitor) is that they are grayscale...

omg is that like the monitor that neo was using? hmm maybe not...his would be green-scale :P (i'm talking about before he "woke up" when he still worked a white collar job and did illegal codeing on the side...probably for money to buy videogames  )...zzz i'm tired...

I have this res on my Dell Inspirion 8600.
It is very sharp and like HiFi for visual people but you need eyes like an eagle.
I won't go back to lowres or even CRTs.

1024x768 is the highest resolution that my laption screen supports  . I can set the resolution of a second monitor much higher. I don't know why my laptop screen has this limitation.
I would really like a higher resolution since the VS2005 code window gets soo small when I have the solution explorer, class explorer, etc.. open. These features make developing more easy...
