You'd think I was old enough by now to know better. To know that you don't try to start 3 projects all at the same time. To know that you don't take on 3 huge projects all at the same time. And most importantly, to know not to sink money into 3 huge projects all at the same time.
Inevitably, you won't complete any of them.
Well, as I wrote in an earlier post, I had tried to start an on-line business. I thought, hey, I'm a programmer, this should be easy! What I didn't realize was that (1) programming doesn't do any good without a design; and (2) programming doesn't make product.
Not only that, but Life started getting in the way. It was a good idea, as we had a few nice pieces (which incidentally never even made it up to the web site). But then my husband's business started picking up, and I started getting more involved with my 2 yr old son, who is taking an interest in Racquetball. Then we decided to look for a new home...
Basically, we're just too darned busy to try to put up another business. Let's just stick with what we've got and call it even!

I started my own On-Line store. It's very sparse right now, in that we don't really have much product yet. We have a lot of work-in-progress, and a lot of good ideas.

I'm amazed at the fact that being a programmer does nothing whatsoever towards one's knowledge of running a business, even one on-line. There's so much else that goes into it, like marketing, keywords, and copy - you know, the text that you put on your page! Makes a big difference.

Idea is nice. Would you like to collect more woodgoodies ?

Ha! Unfortunately this woodgoodies business has gone nowhere so far. Again, has nothing to do with programming - we have not had the time to make product!!!
With my husband's full-time work picking up, and my full-time work picking up, and our baby finally starting to talk - wow, never a dull moment. Unfortunately we "bit off more than we could chew".
